Gooseneck wiring problems.

A buddy is thinking about moving and wants me to help him move. He has 2 gooseneck horse trailers to move his stuff and wants me to pull one of them. My truck is not set up for a GN trailer. This will be kind of a one time thing, so I do not want do drill a big hole in my bed. I do, however, have a 20K Reese fifth-wheel hitch in the bed.

Has anyone used those Gooseneck adapter plates that mount to the fiver hitch rails? How sturdy and stable are they? Any pros or cons to using them? My buddy said he would buy it for me and let me keep it in exchange for helping him.

I don't know if this link will work, but this is what we are thinking of:

Thanks for any info.

I use one on my truck so I can switch between my RV and Gooseneck. No problems; it's good to 25,000. My hitch guy tells me they make sure to bolt the rails in the middle as well as the ends when they're being used for a gooseneck.

My rails are bolted in approx the 4 corners on my other trucks -- 2 bolts per rail one on each end (fifth wheel only) and the one setup for either gooseneck or fifth wheel is bolted 3 bolts per rail; 2 ends + middle.

And just what is the middle bolt good to bolt thru???? Only bed out there in the middle of the frame rails.

No interference issues. They put a small steel plate (essentially a big homemade 'washer') under the bed for reinforcement. It isn't a good weight beairing location just helps to prevent flex since the gooseneck ball's plate is pinned closer to the middle then the outside corners. Seems like a reasonable idea to me at little effort. I don't think it's "needed".
