Been drooling over the plethora of restored cars and street rods since we moved here. The town's full of them.
Found a 1971 Demon slant six in very nice restorable condition. No major rust, all glass and trim, nice car. As I go along, I'm amazed at how well built these little cars are. Many good engineering areas.
So, here I go, the old guy is building a 340 clone. We're well along as far as paint prep goes, and the six is out of the car, I found a built 727, fresh out of the shop, and I'm planning on a 390 HP crate 360 from Jegs. I have read that the new crates are being built by Cummins/canada.
I found an ERTL 340, 1 of 5000 model in the color we decided on, "Plum Crazy". The model is 10 1/2 inches long, and man, if mine turns out that good, I'll be a happy guy. Finding an 8 3/4 axle is going to be a challenge, but every single little detail part for the body has been easy to find on the net.
Sure been pleasing to see the local Mopar guys show so much support and actually help with things. Mopar people are a special breed.
Wish me luck, and (patience), this is a life long dream, and thanks to my bride, I'm a happy car crazy guy again. Almost as much fun as when we bought the '99 Cummins!
