They finaly released some information on the 2001. 5 trucks. This is on DC media server. You can also get some phone and fax numbers for some VIP's off this site. I had faxed and complained about the picture of the 3500 QC 4x4 in intense blue. I had been trying to order one since last year. But even though they released a picture representing their truck this way they wouldn't make the 3500 that color. Well, one of the people from DC called me and said he would remove the picture, and he did. It would have been nice if they gave the customer what they wanted instead of just hiding the evidence. But I just noticed the picture is back, this time representing the 2001 instead of the 2000. Nice going DC, maybe if you drove arround in circles a few times you could get your compass recalabrated, and you wouldn't be so lost! Or it could just be a wandering problem, can't steer a straight line. Hey DC, fix that gearbox! http://us.media.daimlerchrysler.com/special/2001carryover/index_e.htm

Anyone notice that there is no such thing as a 2001. 5? DC is just calling these 2001's.

From what I understand, 2000 was probably the shortest model year ever... . something like July or August to Dec-99. The 2001 model year and production began in Jan-2000.

Interesting, the picture of ths sport is incorrect too. No more decals on the doors and hood, just a badge on the B-pillar of the cab and the normal chrome model badges on the doors!

I like this one... .
http://us.media.daimlerchrysler.com/special/2001carryover/ram_features_e.htm

"2000 MODEL YEAR

1500 Club Cab® models with eight-foot box discontinued
2500 Club Cab models discontinued New front suspension and steering systems on all models
Revised rear suspension systems on 2500 and 3500 models
All-new brake system with dual-piston front disc brake calipers and quick-response vacuum booster "

all but cured steering wander huh?

and here's the first mention of the brakes!

"CHASSIS

Standard four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with dual-piston rear calipers on 2500 and 3500 models - consistent operation and increased front brake lining life
Standard anti-lock brake systems on 2500 and 3500 models include EVBP (Electronic Variable Brake Proportioning) for optimal front to rear brake balance "

This one I like, at least on paper!

Great Post!

THX!

Ray, yes they started calling the trucks produced in Jan 2001 models to avoid fines due to CAFE standards, hence the short 2000 model year. What I was trying to point out is that the trucks they are producing now are still 2001 models. There is no such thing as a 2001. 5 in spite of all the posts referrng to 01. 5's.

You are right about 2001. 5 not being a dodge designation. But I think this makes things easier for us. Otherwise we would have to say a pretend 2001 or a real 2001. or maybe a 2001 early model and 2001 late moded. I am lazy, I like the . 5 myself.
