Locked out

The guy I sold my C20 to pictured a few posts back finally tore into it and everything looked great. Failure was head gaskets.

Make sure they check for cracks between the valves on the heads. Most head rebuild shops put a brass tube through the coolant passage there so any cracks in the future won't hit coolant.

The valve springs are known to be weak so I would suggest they get replaced and note some stronger aftermarket springs are available.

ARP head studs to eliminate the failure prone TTY bolts are out there, but, a real trick to get ARP's sealed in the "wet" holes. ARP sealer is not up to the job.
