I was driving on a hot day up a steep hill when the truck

hesitated and I turned around to flat ground. I noticed the

engine light came on and my fuel pressure gauge was bouncing around more than normal. It was hitting 13 psi

to 15. Normal is 15psi. I checked the codes and it was P0216 and 1693. I cleared them and changed my fass filter,

I checked my records and the filter had 30,000 miles since last change. Since the filter change It has not kicked any codes and I had my camper on for a few short trips.

My question is did a spike in fuel pressure kick the P0216

or should I be thinking about a vp44 down the road.

thanks ted.

Everyone who has a 24v with a VP44 should be thinking about a VP44 down the road!

It does sound like the time may be kinda close for you. I have driven a sick VP44 for many miles before changing over, but not everyone gets that lucky.

Godspeed,
Trent

So far since I changed the fass fuel filter and cleared the code, the truck has been running fine with no codes popping up. I have been driving with a camper on trying to see if this code pops up again before I take a longer trip. My fuel pressure is back to a steady 15 psi. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this problem is solved. On another hand I have been getting educated on changing out the vp44 if the time comes up.
