I am going to put synthetic in the front/rear axle, I will most likely be using Mobil 1 oil for the axles. Do I need to add a modifier to the front/rear for the LSD. And is Mobil oil OK.

Thanks

I use Valvoline 80w90 from NAPA. I have Limited Slip Differentials so I use the Mopar Friction Modifier, it is the best on the market. If you have open diff's, you do not need the friction modifier. If you do have LSD, do not add more than one bottle of friction mod or the LSD will stop functioning as a LSD and act like an open diff.

If you are going with synthetic, use either Royal Purple or Amsoil, they are the best Oo. They probably do not require a friction modifier, but I would rather change the fluid every 10,000 miles just to be able to check the guts of the diff. for wear.

Just my $0. 02

Using Royal Purple Synthetic 85W-140 (we tow heavy - 21,180 GCW versus 21,500 GCWR), no supplemental friction modifier was required in our particular truck's Dana 80 limited slip rear differential. Royal Purple synthetic formulates friction modifier into its product as it comes out of the bottle. YMMV.
