Competition first time driving it I ran a 13.27@108

that's right my first time in the thing i ran a 13. 27 @ 108 MPH



my buddy needed to borrow my truck so i got his bright yellow 2002 six speed Vette in place of it. some other friends had rented the local track for 4 hours this past Saturday so away I went. out of seven passes my worst was a 13. 77 and best was a 13. 27 BTW it was 101 degrees outside that day too.

to let you know, I was planning to take my truck there but he called Friday night and ruined my plans, well kinda

of course he knew what i was doing. this guy was my best man and I his, when we got married. we grew up togther and remain best friends some 30 years later.



heck, we spent every wednesday night at the strip with his dad, while we were growing up. I have raced everything from a 1983 Ford festiva to a 63 split window Vette of theirs. ever rally raced a Festiva? I have... on three wheels most of the track too



do you think he spared mercy on my truck while he had it?



this reminds me of the thread a while back about, would you let someone else drive your truck. to answer that. yes, him. it is an unspoken understanding that if anything were to happen each other would make good on it.



what i found out (for him) is the traction control gadget sucks, it defuels hard to stop the wheel spin. the best i could do was turn it off, and launch at about 1200rpms. anything harder than that, it would spin. they have horrible traction. 110mph Quarter mile speeds COULD be a 12 second run if the 60' times(2. 5-2. 8's) were better.



what i found out for me is i can drive his car better than he can. when i told him it barked fourth each time, he said "i can never do that, how did you do that?"

Good runs Todd,I know on a cool night,with a little better tire,12's are defintely doable. My buddy has an 02 ZO6 Vette,I have had a chance to drive it yet,but with 405hp,and quarter mi of 12. 5's at 115 it will be fun when i do. He cant drive it to save his life either,it would be quicker with an auto ,than with him driving it. Once i get the N2o,B1. and big injectors,ill run him with the Ram.
