Flatbed Gooseneck Recomendations?

My dad just picked up a 2000 26 ft. Jayco Eagle and the truck in stock form (no lift kit) is super close to the bed rails :( The Jayco has adjustable spring hangers and the RV place adjusted them to the highest position and it is still very close:confused: I should say that the truck is a 2000 Quad cab shortbed with a Reese slider and it is running the stock size tires--265/75/16. The guy at the RV place (which happens to have a Duramax) was stunned that when he lowered the camper down that the truck hardly squatted:D He said "if that was a Chevy it would have been on it's knees by now" Anyway, he suggested taking the overload springs out of the spring packs. This truck DOES NOT have the secondary stage over load springs, just the normal pack. I don't know if I would do that or it will squat like a Chevy  Has anyone else done this?

years ago I had the same problem, I bought a 26'nomad 5th wheel and when I backed the truck under it ,it was real close to the bed towards the back. So on our first trip with it to canada we stoped by Leola Pa. where theyu manufacture Nomad. I was inform that my new trailer had axles on it for a mid size truck and that they needed to be replaced. So I will give them a free plug here, they took my trailer into the plant replaced both axles at NO charge. The trailer sat alot higher after that (level) and my problem was solved. That also made it alot nicer when you stop at a rest stop to eat or sleep since the trailer them sat level. I hope this helps you.

I had to spring over my 98. 5 and my 2003 both 4x4 but on the 03 I had so so clearance in front of 5er but at back of p. u. bed I would hit 5er in of camber turns like driveways etc. so I installed a 2" level kit in front of p. u. and it lowered rear corners of p. u. nearly 2" and no more hitting and truck is still a hare higher in back when unloaded and level when loaded

good luck

Does the truck have the spacers above the rear axles and below the springs similar to the gen 3's ?... If so, there is 1. 25" drop available at the rear tires of the truck... I'm not familiar with the 2000 model year (I was a pagan then, driving a PSD)... .

The process of lowering my 2nd gen truck was a Dodge TSB that was done under warranty. The price to have the TSB done was about $700 if I would have had to pay for it. Several members have come up with their own "home brew" mods to accomplish the same thing at a much lower price. On my 3rd gen, I was able to drop the back end 1-1/4" for free just by moving the spacers to the top of the spring pack instead of between the spring pack and axle. In anhy case, I really like to look and convenienve of the lowered truclk.

Now I remember why I did not spend the extra $3000. 00 to get a 4X4 again ! Good luck getting the problem solved.
