Heads up guys. I got a response on a classified ad that ask for my home address, pictures, and for me to send balance of overpayment check to shipper asap.



This a** hole wanted the truck immediately. Didn't I see something like this on 60 minutes or something? Bunch of nigerians or ethiopians.



I was born at night but it wasn't last night. My only mistake was to answer. Told him to Kiss My A**.



Then I forwarded the email to Steve.

They give you a "certified check", which is an overpayment-to make sure there is enough to cover all fees, etc. -you refund with a good check and give them truck, only to find out their "certified check" is bogus, so you are out truck + overpayment.

I was fixing to post this about the same thing. $4500 seemed a little steep to ship a pickup. And you all know the condition of my jalopy; I'd be lucky to get $3500 for it, to be honest. I read it, remembered this scam from a few years ago, and deleted it; not to mention no one gets anything of mine without the check clearing first. I thought, "Hmmmm. Wants my physical address, wants to buy it sight unseen; will have an "agent" come pick it up. " None of it added up. I think I'll delete the street part of my address (not that they could ever find wxyz Co Rd ---; they seem to start numbering roads in this county from wherever they hit it blindfolded on the map with a dart. ) The email address was from a KELVIN somone or other at AOL.



I agree with the brain surgery- but I was thinking along the lines of a . 500 Magnum or . 454 Casull. Leave no face to ID

Good to find some people like me out there.



A few weeks ago I got an e-mail from amodela stamps about some lost $$ in some nigerian kingdom or what have you. It was more than fun to have some fake documents sent to my Post Office box. I also gave them the # for the payphone in the basement of my work.



BTW dont give them your real name and address.



It's pretty obvious that it's a scam and all but dang it kept me amused for about 10 minutes.

I gots me an idear. Does anyone have a real nice looking picture of a reg cab dually? Dont even have to be a diesel (not that he cares). I was thinking of giving him the address of a local sheriff, mob hit man, etc, and seeing how it played out. Nice pics add to him thinking he's getting a deal. No wait, my ad says nothing about it being a dually. Just has to be blue. Might be a reward in it for me. I'll do anything for money as long as I dont get caught

Just for the record.

Last year I put a 1970 Imperial up for sale on the Imperial website. One of many responses was a poorly worded request for more information. I didn't want to bother with it and told the guy it was sold. Later, I got another email from the same person when I accidentally forwarded some information to about a dozen people asking about the car. Next, I get a phone call from Germany from this guy's friend who speaks english and I realize that this is a serious offer. Long story short, he buys my car and has it picked up and shipped to Germany. It must have cost more to ship it than he paid for it. I got paid. He loves the car. Some of the international deals are legit. I was pleasantly surprised for once in my life.

Interesting you started this thread. When I listed my Getrag for sale, I got the same response as you from this same guy, identical format. I had no clue about the scam aspect of all this but it really smelled to me. I e-mailed him that I thought he was full of fertilizer. He e-mailed back as if he never got my response or as if he had forgotten he'd sent the first e-mail requesting the trannie and started the spiel all over again, insisting his "client" wanted the trannie. After about the third e-mail from him, I told him to go suck pond water. That ended it.



The irony is that you ended up with his transmission!!!
