I installed an Edge EZ box on my truck and had a couple questions on how the trans was responding. Y'all gave me some good advice and the truck is running like a champ now. All is well, trans is OK, all is right with the world!
Well, this is one of the entries in the thread:

Did you install a new little brass elbow in the turbo or block the wastegate? If you didn't I wouldn't think you set any codes. Your transmission should hold with the EZ. Take it by a Autozone and they can read any codes. If no codes go ahead and smoke the transmission IF!!! it is covered by warranty.
Nope, didn't install the boost elbow. I thought I would try the EZ without it to start with. I know the trans is covered on the warranty because we made sure that was part of the coverage. I am just gonna go ahead and drive it and if it pukes the trans, then DC can put in a new one!
Sometimes I wish it had been a 6 speed. That is what I would buy if I were ordering one today?
One thought, would putting a shift kit in the auto make any difference? I know due to the warranty thing, I can't, I was just thinking out loud (gets me in trouble every time!!

Now this seems innocent enough, right! Well, be careful what you say on the TDR, it can come back and bite you in the ass!
On Friday, I got the following letter from R. J. MacKendrick, the Warranty Administration Manager, West Business Center for Daimler Chrysler. This is what he had to say:
Dear Mr. Grady,
DaimlerChrysler has been made aware that you have modified your vehicle, VIN xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, by installing an Edge Products performance-enhancing device on your 2003 Dodge CTD Ram truck.
According to your new vehicle warranty, the additon of modifications may void the warranty on your truck. As such, DaimlerChrysler has placed a warranty restriction on your vehicle's transmission. With the warranty restriction in place, the servicing dealer will need notify the DaimlerChrysler West Business Center and arrange for an inspection of any failed parts before any warranty coverage is authorized.
This restriction does not automatically void your new vehicle warranty, but allows a mechanism for the manufacturer to protect itself from unathorized modifications. Unless the dealer notifies us of further problems with the vehicle that might have occurred because of the Edge box, (i. e. , engine or axles) your remaining warranty is still in effect.
Sincerely,
Damiler Chrysler Motors Company, LLC
Soooooo, I guess my point is, be careful what you say here, or be careful how you say what you say here, or be careful who you say to what you say here. This truck has not been to the dealer for them to see the Edge box was installed. Plus, the letter specifically refers to the transmission "problem" I thought I had.
I don't know who informed DC about this, but I am sure as H*** gonna do my best to find out!
If I had taken the truck to the dealer either with the Edge box installed, or they had found out about it during the course of doing warranty work, that is one thing, I knew I was taking that chance when I installed it, but to have some lowlife rat me out, is beyond my comprehension!!
I guess I just hope this never happens to anyone else here. This forum should be a "safe" place to discuss our problems, ideas, and concerns. I guess it isn't!
Y'all take care and keep up the good work! Great bunch of folks here with a ton if information.
Alan
