For you guys who did the 6" Skyjacker springs in the back to eliminate the blocks, did it life the back at all? The specs say like 1" maybe, but I know you need to aways subtract 1" from lift specs for our trucks.

So did you guys notice any height difference?

Chris -

My old dually (still in the readers rigs pics) didn't have any suspension when I found it, but, have a look at the pics. I had the 6" Skyjacker Softride springs in it, with the stock 3" lift blocks, and it sat pretty high. 'Course the truck is 20' long so it looks killer ;)

Also - I used the 1/2 ton springs, front and rear - yes, on my big honkin heavy dually 4x4 - it rode awesome, and rode better when the 18' car hauler and 3500lb car was on the back. As long as the weight is set properly on the trailer you'll love the ride with the 1/2 ton springs, regardless of what the truck is supposed to have... at least I did. The dually in the pics was originally a 3/4 ton big block truck.

Cool, I'll check it out. A dually like that is a little different story though...

Anyone out there do the conversion to eliminate the blocks on a srw?

Yes, I did the Softride six inch spring conversion to eliminate the six inch blocks. No change in height. Load capacity is fine. Ride is much better. If you put the 2. 5 inch front springs in the truck will be exactly level after a few weeks when the fronts sag to match.

any of you guys that have done this want to part with your now unused 6" factory blocks? I'm not having any luck at the junkyards...

RGT, you must want the 6" blocks for a different rig right? Your 93 should have the 6"blocks?? Don't ask BCook1 for his, there on my 89, I done took them off his hands. I went the other direction, 3"blocks to 6"blocks to get my lift. I had a want ad in here for about a year, to no avail. The biggest I could find from a off road site was 4-5" not cast. They are super heavy, so shipping will be high. Heck Brennan didnt charge me anything, only pay shipping which from Montana to Indiana was about $35. I still OWE. Bill

I o have six inch blocks in the truck, but want to lower the truck, I can't find 4" blocks with the bump stop feature, which I want for the timbren springs. I don't want to tie up the truck when I change over so I would like to have a set to modify... ... .

Some...GASP.... Fords had the blocks

Some of the Fords had a 3 and 1/2" block with the arm sticking out the side. I don't follow fords so I have no idea what they came on. My 82 Dodge had 4" with the arm but it was a weird one ton CC long box. A trip to the wrecking yard should yield something.

edit: BCook1 originally posted this reply in a brand new thread, when in fact he wanted it in here (as indicated in his follow-up post below) so I have "merged" it here and the new thread he started is gone... . does that make sense to anyone but me... . :D:D

I found some 4" blocks in a ford they were for 3" wide springs and the bump stop is an inch or so below the top of the block.....
