Has anyone out there heard how those ford factory installed brake controllers are holding up? I drove one ford that had it, and i thought it was greatest thing. Maybe DC will offer one some day...

My guess would be the Ford integrated brake controllers will easily outlast the Powerstroke engine that powers(?) the truck.

I'd recommend buying a Dodge and installing a BrakeSmart controller.

The early '05 with the brake controller sucks! My girlfriend has one, and it doesn't work below 15mph. The dealer told her that they had to buy a module to hook up to it so that it would work below 15 mph and that the module costs around $500!!! All the late model '05's and the '06's work below 15mph.

It senses hydraulic pressure in the braking system - like the Brakesmart. Ford and Tekonsha developed it.

whats wrong with a regular brake controller?? Are there some unique features to the ford item?

It is a intrigrated system (ie: built in, not a add on item), and as always, Ford thinks it is superior to everything else.....

Considering nobody else from the Big 3 offers an integrated brake controller, I guess is it superior to what the others are offering. Its at least as good as Brakesmart controller. We have one in our 05 F250, and it works great. Im not sure where the information came from that it is a 500 dollar module that makes the brakes work below 15mph, its actually a simple dealer reprogram of the computer. Ive used a fair number of brake controllers, and found that this one is the smoothest yet.

As was posted it is integreated into the truck already, so you have the controls right up on the dash like the stereo and controls. It's easy to adjust and to grab the trailer brakes if you need them.

It will probably take the DC engineers about 5yrs to come up with a brake controler that matches phord. O well I want those whees kids to fix the door gasket first. I just hope that those morons that designed the door/gasket are working for someone else!! Why do they keep paying big $$ to replace something that isn't right??

Well your dealer is a liar--have him read a few of the posts at dieselstop.com--the good dealers are swapping the 06 modules into the dash--takes about 20 minutes and fixes the proble--I wonder how some of these crooks stay in business?? if all of us truck owners ever got tired of bashing other brands and got united in one common goal and that would be to force the mfgs and dealers to be held accountable for making a GOOD product and standing behind it we would have REAL trucks and not just another compromise!!!

Isn't this a $800 upgrade  I'd rather buy a break control and spend the extra cash on something else.

$800? Sticker list price is $205, its a 150 dollar option if you get it at dealer cost when you order the truck. Considering what it is, and the fact that there is no installation hassle, its a smokin good deal.

I was way off... I read on here a while back that it was an $800 dollar upgrade. I guess I should get the facts before I open my mouth :-laf

It will take DC engineers 5yrs to get it to work with the AUTO TRANSMISSION :D :D :D
