The elusive Delvac 1 to becomre more widely available!!

Bio Diesel

I seen the ford commercial on the boob and it says ford is the leader in power. This was a few days ago. The little print at the bottom said with the auto. Isnt the 325 600 available with the auto? If so, isnt that false advertising? Someone needs to tell them that there is a new leader.

It is 50 state legal and available with either the 6 speed or 48-RE. The auto also now has a "tow-haul"mode too,but is still a 4 speed... Doug

Did they say "In it's class. "

Remember they are "Light Duty" where as we are Medium Duty.

Heavy Duty truck, Medium Duty Engine = Dodge CTD

HD(Hardly Duty)/Super Duty truck, Light Duty Engine = Ford PSD & Chevy/GMC Duramax

Just saw a Ford commercial with an F-350 dually towing a whole bunch of refrigerators (you'll know what I'm talking about when you see the commercial). Anyway, the announcer talks about how the powerful 6-liter Powerstroke can tow up to 13,500 lb. What's interesting is that in the fine print it says that with a diesel you can only tow 12000 and change. When you see this commercial, be sure to read the fine print carefully... it was gone so fast I could be missing something.

With my GCWR of 23000 lb, I can tow at least 16000 legally. Would be nice if Dodge ran an ad showing that they beat Ford by at least 3000 lb.

sticks,

thanks for cluing me in. I always wondered what the HD stood for on the chebbies. I guess the HD is open to interpretation:-laf.

Let's see, 23,000 lbs GCWR - 16,000 lbs loaded trailer weight = 7,000 lbs loaded truck weight. Wow, those 3G trucks must be a lot lighter than the 2G. Loaded with fuel, driver, passenger, cargo, hitch, accessories, etc. , my 2WD truck weighs 7,680 lbs by certified truck scales.

Rusty,

That is because they are using more plastic less steel. But if you think our trucks have a lot of plastic you should see the new chebbies. A guy who works for me has an '02 chebbie 3500 DRW. He had a guy back into the bed of the truck and broke (not dented) the bed panel. The entire side of the DRW is made of plastic so they don't have to worry with fitting DRW fenders to the steel.

Hmm... and I thought the 3rd gens were heavier than the 2nd gens. Guess not! I've never had mine weighed... I'm relying on what others have posted about similar trucks.

rbattelle,

I think Rusty is trying to point out that you can't really tow 16,000 lbs legally. Your truck undoubtably weighs more than 7000 lbs. I have also heard the 3rd gens are a tad heavier than the 2nd gens. I will weigh mine soon, but I know it'll be heavier than my 2nd gen because my '01 was a SRW auto. But whatever you're truck ends up weighing, your tow capacity will be well above 13,500 lbs, which was your point, I believe.

On another note, I am sure you guys were joking but for the record all pickups are considered light duty trucks (despite the tailgate badge). GMC topkicks, Freightliner FL70's, Ford F650-750's etc are medium duty trucks and full size class 8 tractors are heavy duty trucks.

The Cummins engine is classified as a medium duty engine. The duramax and powerstroke are classified as light duty, despite thier availability in some medium duty truck applications. The "heavy duty" on our tailgates or a duramax implies a heavier duty light duty truck. There will be a test later! ;)

What was in the refrigerators? Now, do a Dodge commercial pulling the same number of refrigerators loaded with beer heading for the BIG cookout down by the lake. Now that would require some power. I just hope they pick me to help drink some of the beer:D.
