I need an answer quick , we are all sitting around drinking rums and the topic of ford owning Cummins came up . I know that ford once owned 10 % of Cummins and Cummins and bought it back . what was brought up was that in 2004 the fords will be coming out with the Cummins motors (5. 9's)... ... ... the way I heard it was that ford was switching to the 6. 0L International harvester motors ... ... . please correct us

The Ford site says their new 6. 0L will be built at the Navistar (International) plant in Indianapolis

I'm not up on Fords but, from the International site, it appears that International has always made the Power Stroke engine so this probably isn't big news other than it is a new offering.

For uses the Cummins in its larger trucks. I can't confirm or deny the rumour on putting them in the F250/F350s but I doubt it since they are coming out with a brand new Power Strioke with competitive hp/torque numbers this year (mid year). It would be a huge waste of money to have a half-year model run of an engine then switch to another. Just my opinion.

Ford guys seem to be a little desparate about the Cummins and believe any rumor going around. I think it's a built in ego problem because Ford uses the same engine we have in our pickups in their larger trucks. The International engine seems to be pretty good considering it's a V8 glowplugger.

Ford did own a part of Cummins in the early 80's; because they were using the B and C-Series engines in their back-hoes and they wanted to guarentee engine availibility. Cummins has since bought back their 10%. About Ford using the 5. 9 B-Series engine, they have been using it for years. If you look at their med/heavy (F650/750) trucks, the ISB and the Cat 3126b also become available.

i am dumbfounded at the amount of people who think ford still owns cumminGs, and how ford is just a couple of years away from putting one in their trucks.

Its hard to make friends believe unless you have others to confirm what you already know , I have told a frustrating amount of peaple that ford does not own cummins . Thank you all for your input ;) ;) ;)
