Can someone explain this to me please?
Why would an individual refuse to buy from Chrysler or GM because of the so-called "bailouts?" I just dont get the thinking there...
Id almost put money on when it comes time to lay the cash out, if your in a Dodge/Cummins now, your gonna be hard pressed to buy a Ford that likely wont pull a load or be as dependable as the Cummins.
My explanation:
Neither Chrysler or GM needed to take gov. bailouts to stay in business. They could have filed bankruptcy, reorganized, and probably never missed a beat. This is not at all unusual for big corporations to do this. This is a historical fact. Look at the airline industry.
The problem with doing this was the powerful and corrupt UAW Union would have taken a big hit, with the bankruptcy filing.
Long story short: In 2007-08, there were huge campaign contributions from the UAW, SEIU, AFLCIO, etc. to the B. O. presedential campaign.
Fly on the oval office wall, with big ears : "Hello, Mr. Presedent B. O. , my name is XXXX, I'm a very high up official from the UAW. About this current financial problem we're having with Chrysler and GM. I might have a solution, etc, etc, etc.
I didn't intend for my post to get so political, so that's all I have to say about that.

PS. I love my Cummins engine, but the Dodge that came with it, is just OK.
