The Truth About the Furd 6.4 ltr. Powerstroke Diesel

Arco diesel quality

One reason being, I'm sad to say, if or when I ever buy another new truck, it will not be a Dodge or GM, thanks to the recent and current political decisions made by the b. o. administration.

Can someone explain this to me please?

Why would an individual refuse to buy from Chrysler or GM because of the so-called "bailouts?" I just dont get the thinking there...

Id almost put money on when it comes time to lay the cash out, if your in a Dodge/Cummins now, your gonna be hard pressed to buy a Ford that likely wont pull a load or be as dependable as the Cummins.

I myself will do anything I can to stay away from buying anything from Chrysler or GM on principle as well. I have had Dodges my whole life. Was even raced to the hospital in my mother's womb in a '67 Barracuda. Have owned 5 Cummins. However, that was the old Chrysler. No longer want to support the Unions/union pay and crazy health care/pension benefits that I don't get to enjoy. And by support, I mean the billions handed over to these makers that made horrible business decisions and not allowed to suffer the consequences. I would look to a Ford lot much sooner than any other the next time a new vehicle comes into the picture (although it looks like it will be a long time now). I have even given some thought to a Ford 03-04 Cummins conversion from my 98 Dodge when I am tired of the truck. Oh well, just my opinion, we all have them.

I myself will do anything I can to stay away from buying anything from Furd and GM. I love my Dodge/Cummins, which is my 2nd one. Both have turned to be excellent. I had a Furd F250, which was the worst truck I ever had.

Chrysler paid the taxpayer back last time. With more emphasis on fewer models and higher quality I trust they'll pay us back again. I'm just bummed they teamed up with Fiat. :{ These 2010's are going to do well.

EXACTLY what Im getting at! While Im too young to have been hearing about/living through the first time Chrysler almost went under (Im 26) its my understanding they took government loans back then, correct??

So, in my eyes, if your driving a Dodge/Cummins, and saying you refuse to buy a Dodge or GM again because of the bailout, your a hypocrit. Or is it that it was long enough ago that it wasnt that big of a deal??

As long as Dodge/Chrysler are selling cars and trucks, Ill still buy them. Why would I refuse to buy because they got a loan? Yall took out a loan for your house/truck. Its the same thing in my eyes.

(yes I understand the argument on bad business decisions. Lets not forget that Ford made the exact same mistakes, except they shored up loans for themselves a good year before the auto industry tanked. In fact, I challenge anybody to find a company thats been around near-100years or more that hasnt, at some point, made bad business decisions. And MANY come to the near brink of collapse, only to rise from the ashes better than ever. )

Well it was nearly 30 years ago. But the government didn't take it over and hand much of it to the Unions either. It was still Chrysler Corporation. It really was just a loan which got paid back. Now... they couldn't pay it back if they wanted to. Cause they don't own it anymore.

Pay us citizens back???? You mean the government... which we are not part of anymore. And that money will be re-routed to another entitlement program or something. We're not getting a DIME back. That money was gone even before TARP.

My explanation:

Neither Chrysler or GM needed to take gov. bailouts to stay in business. They could have filed bankruptcy, reorganized, and probably never missed a beat. This is not at all unusual for big corporations to do this. This is a historical fact. Look at the airline industry.

The problem with doing this was the powerful and corrupt UAW Union would have taken a big hit, with the bankruptcy filing.

Long story short: In 2007-08, there were huge campaign contributions from the UAW, SEIU, AFLCIO, etc. to the B. O. presedential campaign.

Fly on the oval office wall, with big ears : "Hello, Mr. Presedent B. O. , my name is XXXX, I'm a very high up official from the UAW. About this current financial problem we're having with Chrysler and GM. I might have a solution, etc, etc, etc.

I didn't intend for my post to get so political, so that's all I have to say about that.

Ray

PS. I love my Cummins engine, but the Dodge that came with it, is just OK.

You guys with the rose colored glasses go ahead and hold your breath on the auto companies paying the taxpayer "gift" back. Way I see it, when you buy a GM or Chrysler now your paying twice. The original amount to the dealer and that which is coming out of your taxes. I am not going to do this voluntarily. I will find another company to send my quickly deflating US dollar to. I really like my Dodge and hopefully the truck division will survive. All that other garbage such as Nitro, Caliber, Caravan etc. could disappear for all I care. I don't know who they have on their design teams, but it explains a lot. :-laf

The guys who bad mouth the gov't for saving their company are just a bunch of
whiners. Can you imagine the fire and brimstone Obama would have gotten if he
just let the company go. And just who would these clowns get to do their
warranty work?

fwiw i doubt gm or chrysler will pay more then a fraction of our money back. speaking of payback, anyone know if chrysler has paid cummins for the 40+ million they owe them on their engines? it will be a little better then a year before i buy another truck, and then i will research all 3 makes again. reliability, performance, fuel mileage, what i like the most, and cost will all be factors , in that order. it maybe a ford, could be a dodge or gmc, but i will atleast give all 3 a consideration. i will also take in consideration the bailout money dodge and gm recieved, and to what extent it's been paid back. from what i see none of the automakers are offering any real bargins considering the shape they are in, as well as the current economic conditions. for the matter, i dont remember any real deal's back when they got the bailout money.

The "real bargains" they offered in the past is one of the reasons they are in the shape they're in today. The vehicle pricing process has become prostituted, just like the airline industry. I call it the "Home Depot" syndrome. Let's see who can go bankrupt first while the whole industry spirales to the bottom.

What are you talking about??? They filed bankruptcy!!! Thats what the bailouts were supposed to prevent!!! So if they had done that in the first place... we'd have saved billions and be in the same situation we are now. Reorganization.

Its not like nobody knew the bailouts wouldn't help. The writing was all over the wall with the economy like it was... and still is. None of this stimulus or bailouts or TARP is doing anything except lining pockets and polictical coffers. Now they want to use stimulus funds to reduce the deficit. Why dont' BO just say "hey I'll just solve the problem and write a check and eliminate the deficit". This stimulus money isn't ours anyway... its our kids and grandkids money. Ours was spent years ago.

Whats all this "pay us back" talk??? Who here thinks were going to get a refund check or dividend check in the mail as John Q Taxpayer?

Well aside from the political BS that I dont agree with 90% of you guys on considering the bailouts, we got 2 new 2011 Ford 6. 7s at work the other day and I snapped some pics; an F350 XLT and an F450 XL. Thought yall might like to see...

hhhmm... ok, the first time I see one of these and its in a shop with the hood up !!!. . oh no, is this going to be a habit???? hahahaha. . just kidding, glad you posted them, but if they really wanted to test them, shoud have sold them to another frac company... Halliburton takes care of their stuff too good!!. . hahahaaha...

Wow, interesting photos. I didn't think these were in production yet.

Looks like just as much of a mess under the hood as the last model. But at least the front end seems less ugly than the last one.

 No no. Our frac crews, if they were to get one, would have it beat to hell in a week; itd look 2 years old before that week was up.

It came with a flatbed and is getting a utility body put on

Frontend does look better. I dont know if thats because the 08+ have grown on me as Ive seen plenty and am used to it (I thought they were HIDEOUS when they first came out) or whether the bigger lights are just better looking. I definately prefer the vents on the 2011s better, and the hoods kinda cool looking for some reason

Im not exaggerrating when I say you cant see any ground from under the hood. Atleast the 6. 4 you could if you looked. But this one... nothing. You could spray water and itd still be dry underneath :-laf

On the Ford SuperDuty Website... they said 4 companies were getting them as test units before they get released. Halliburton was mentioned as one of them. They have a section of the website that follows the results and comments.

I still think all the new ones need a tilt doghouse. All brands.
