How to Dim After Market Gages?

Front gear problem-A few days ago while driveing, my front drive LOCKED UP- I was very lucky as I had just turned on a snow covered gravel road after running hiway speed. turns out something failed with the the pinion shaft as it moved forward and locked on the carrior. Only 85,000 on the 04. 5 truck. This could have been a very big problem had it happened at high speed. I will know monday just what all damage will be. Dodge will do nothing as its past warrenty. I emailed american axel but no reply yet. I will update when I know more. Anyone else have anything like this?
 
The front axle in your truck is a Corporate 9 1/4, not an American. If the pinion went away like that it had to be making lots of noise or vibrating before it finally gave up. When you changed the fluid the last time did everything look OK?
 
Do a search on american axel site. Dodge started useing AAM in 03. They had a falling out with dana I guess or just under bid them,who knows. Gm use to own american axel but sold off some years ago.

If you look real close that 9. 25" AAM on the front of the 3rd Gen trucks is the same youll find on the rear of the H2 Hummer. Spinning backwards of course;).

I recently had a low speed sudden and unexpected lockup of the frount and then it just as suddenly went away. unable to see anything wrong even after jacking up the front weels and turning them. The next week my drivers side hub bearing failed. Replaced both of them.
