I am leaking oil from the front axle breather tube. There has been a little coming out since it was new. Now at about 4,000 miles it seems more is coming out. Dealer says it is normal because they overfill at factory and when it gets down to the proper level it will stop. Does this sound right?

Yep, mine did it too

George, Mine did this about 2 months ago, at about 2000 miles or so. I noticed maybe 2 - 4 ounces on the ground after I pulled in my garage and got out of the truck. I was a bit scared at first, until I check it out and found it was coming up out of the front axle vent tube. I posted this same question here, and got the response that several other owners had their trucks do this as well. Mine has done it once only so far. Of the other owners that replied to my post, a couple said theirs did it several times, but most said it was a once or twice thing.

I noticed mine doing the same but didn't really think much of it. When I took my truck in to the dealship to have the oil changed* they noticed it and said the driver side axle seal was bad and scheduled me for warranty sevice and fixed it.

So I guess it depends on where its comming from, if its running out on the axle then I would take it in, if its comming from the vent I wouldn't worry about it.

*By the way the reason I take my truck in to have the oil changed is because it's free. The dealership sponsors my bad racing habbit and I asked them to include all the maintenance on my truck as well. This is a good thing but I can't really do any bombing till the warranty is up since they see it so often.
