Happy Birthday formula!!

Boycots make any sense?

My wife was born(1957) in Cheyenne and has wanted to make a trip back home.

Please tell me what the good and bad points are. And is there public trans?

Almost 1600 miles and I might just fly out there.

We don't want a real fancy hotel,just clean,quiet & convenient

Will probably bring my 15 y/o son.

Thanks Tim

check out www.cfdrodeo.com

also do a search for Cheyenne Frontier Days on the web, there are plenty of sites and info to check out.

I've never had problems buying rodeo tickets either the day of or the day before, especially during the week.

The night shows are good too. I've already got tickets for Allen Jackson and Toby Keith. Night shows are harder to get tix for on a moments notice if you don't want to sit a long way from the stage.

CFD is a week long celebration and there is always something going on. There are 3? parades, free pancake breakfasts and other events.

It's funny, many of the old timers around here get in a panic and many either leave town or don't leave their home during the week due to the influx of people in town. It's not a big deal if you ask me.

There are many hotels/motels, but I would suggest making reservations soon if you're not pulling an RV. If you do fly, rent a car in Denver and drive up. It's only 2 hours. Flights in/out of Cheyenne are usually around $180 per person to DIA, but during CFD, they may be at a premium. If you decide to RV it and can't get into one of our many RV parks, let me know and you can camp out on my property. (TDR members only!)

Cheyenne has changed a bit since 1957!

:)

few years back i was travelling from Denver through cheyenne during the pioneer days festival. I went to denver to watch the drag races and had a great time. I then drove home through cheyenne and broke down just outside of laramie.

The timing belt on my little mazda pickup went snap. I ended forkin out some dough to tow it back into town. I bought a cheesy 8 dollar tool kit and changed the belt myself. Yeah well, i forgot that the big ole crank pulley bolt isn't easy and well couldn't do it with the tools supplied.

I ended up renting a car in cheyenne and getting a room there while some knucklehead fixed my truck. I ended up going to the rodeo and partying all night at my hotel with who the hell knows. I had more fun there than in Denver.

Anyways, i don't know much about the goings on, and where to get rooms. I remember forkin out about 80 bucks for a cheesy motel room, i thought it was outrageous, i only spent 100 at the doubletree in denver for cryin out loud. Then they told me about the big shindig in town, i laughed it off and made the best of my situation. I'd like to go back, i had a ball.

When I was 18 I worked at a hotel in Cheyenne and THE DAY Frontier Days starts to the day they end every hotel and motel in Cheyeenne DOUBLES their rates no matter how crummy the room.

Usaully reservations are taken for Frontier Days starting in Jan. and we would be booked solid for those 10 days by Mar. With the economy and Iraq going on it may not be the case this year.

The weather is very good. Very warm summer days with cool nights and hardly any incests buzzing around (very dry). Public transportation; never used it. Cheyenne isn't very big so getting around by car is pretty easy. Kurt

What I need

is to know the places to stay away from.

-What part of town to stay away from. (NO DRUGS)

-What business's will are rip offs. (I ain't rich,yet)

There are still plenty of rooms available as of this date.

PLEASE STICK TO THE SUBJECT. aka insect!

Tim:rolleyes:

Skydiver,

I'd stay away from the non-name brand no-tell motels in town. There are several on Lincolnway (the main drag through down-town)

I'd recommend Super 8, Best Western, Holiday Inn, Little America, La Quinta, Comfort inn, Days Inn, etc. Try to stay north of I-80 or even north of Lincolnway if you can. The train tracks run along between the two and the old cliche of which side of the tracks your from stand here as well. No offence to those who live south of the tracks, but you likely know what I'm talking about anyway.

Typically people in Cheyenne and Wyoming don't rip each other off, but there's always one black sheep in the heard. Yes, I'd expect higher rates during CFD for your room. The restaurants in town don't raise their rates, but will be busier. This is our big gig of the year and business owners try to make the most of it. They also want you to come back again next year. As far as public transportation, there is plenty of off site parking with free shuttle buses to take you right to the park, but expect to pay more to park right there. I've made friends with a few people that live close to the park and I park free in their yard.

Thank you tpcdrafting.

That's the info I was needing.

I am wanting to drive the Dodge and be able to take in the sites. I have only been out West one time in March 1982 driving a new VW diesel. Long Beach Ca.

I need to take my son on at least one long road trip. He's talking Air Force and that makes me proud.

Just good ol Southern folks here needing a little break from the regular routine.

Tim
