OK, I have a 64oz jug of Stanadyne. They added it to the tab for a p-pump I left with them that has a bolt broken off in the housing and needs repair. If you didn't call them then I have bought it. One question. It has so much surface tension that it will not pour cleanly from the bottle into a measuring cup, or from the cup into a funnel, so it ends up on the floor, the ground and on my hands. Is there a trick to pouring it?

As some of the long time members will attest, I have no problem raising the B. S. flag when I read something that is totally outside the realm of common sense. I don't have a degree in physics, but I do have enough education to know that a pint of liquid that is stable enough to ship via UPS will not contain the BTUs that 10 to 15 gallons of #2 diesel has. If I ruffle feathers saying it, so be it.

I got the original post in my e-mail and had to smile. With the lack of knowledge and respect the big O has demonstrated about those in uniform, both military and public service, I would have thought you supported him after that rant you directed at me.

Since you have given us a little of your history, I'll give you some of mine. I started out as a helicopter mechanic after graduating high school. I spent a tour in VN as a novice wrench turner, than graduated to being a Huey crewchief. I instructed aircraft maintenance on my return, then went to Korea as a flight platoon sargeant. After returning to the US I applied and was accepted to go to flight school, upon graduation I was a Warrant Officer. During my 19 years as an aviator I went to several schools, including the maintenance test pilot course. When I retired I was the chief of the Apache Material Fielding Team whose mission was to equip all the new Apache helicopter attack units that were formed in the Army. I was also the only AH-64A (Apache) Maintenance Test Flight Examiner at Ft. Hood, TX. That job entailed giving 25 or 30 unit test pilots their initial check rides, provide ongoing training and also give them their annual check rides. When I retired I was awarded the Legion of Merit, a medal that is rarely awarded to anyone below the rank of O-5 (Lt Col)

Still think I fall under the "military doesnt fire people they just find different things for them to do" heading?

Tip the bottle from the side and use a funnel. Was the stanadyne on your bill as you pd for it cause so did I... . Have a receipt. I apologize for what Isaid to You also... If my uncle seen that he would probably drive up from Alamagordo and kick my butt himself. As far as the bigO goes, I'm not sure about how much support he is giving the military when he got rid od 3500 of our nuclear warheads (where did they go anyways?) and is down sizing the navy. thought i edited that before anybody saw it. oops. Thats a whole nother topic not for this site. Bygones can be bygones or ?

Well now, Mr Games, seems you may be a bit overqualified, inexperienced, and certainally a novice. LOL
Love it man,
Smitty

I dropped the p-pump off today, for pickup after I return to TX. They said if you called they wouldn't charge me for the Stanadyne. The injectors failed the pop test#@$%!

We're cool. I won't mind eating crow if I was wrong, it adds to my bottom line. :-laf

http://www.nalco.com/applications/fuels-management.htm

This is what MOST of the Oil company's put in for Lube that was mandated by the Fed's when LSD came out. The oil company's dont care or give a pinch of I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER about anything but money. The Fed's made them put this in because of the same thoughts as us. WILL IT DEYSTROY our fuel systems so to appease the public the Feds MADE THEM ADD THIS or something like it. Then when ULSD came out the were made to add more. It's on the BOL's that came with every load loaded. I asked once how much they added it was DROPS to the gallon. I USE IT AT MY OWN PREFRANCE not telling ANYONE TO OR NOT TO It wont cost me a thing any way it goes. But I must add that I find claims of BIG MPG and BIG HP to be nothing more than hype to sell a product. Sorry I couldn't get back sooner but family business needed some help and FAMILY COMES FIRST to me :) I hope you find what it is your looking for im in for just a bit I have 100 new house guests and some dropping new born as we speak so need to tend to their needs. These are not the guests but they look the same only with MUD all over the place. :D

I saw my first rack at a hot springs  in Saratoga WY I was maybe 12ish parents had taken us there after a good day of snowmobiling. We were there maybe a half hour and a car load of drunk teenagers come sliding in. They got out of the car laughin and giggling and havin a good time they all stripped down to their underdrawers and hopped in. This wild lookin blonde says "f that Im not getting my clothes wet" and off they came. Boy was I in love :-laf

Ma did her best to shield me from the show but my eyes was too curious I just couldnt help myself. We left shortly after that the whole car ride back home my face looked something like this :D

The trip is complete, and here are the results. First, I want to post this. Notice the date of the donation, the day before I left TX. I did that to alleviate any conflict of interest. I'm sure there is at least one person (not you LN) that would acccuse me of throwing the results for a small $$ gain.

Total trip was 1874 miles, 516 empty-1358 towing. The trailer ended up being a 16 footer, 88 inches wide with very little equipment inside and weighed about 3500 pounds. Much smaller and lighter than the cargo trailer I based my figures on, so I expected about 14 mpg pulling it, possibly more. So much for optimism. Using my previous MPG devided into the actual miles I should have needed 127. 3 gallons. I used 127. 9. It is argueable that wx conditions altered the result, I hit some wind in IA, but had a tailwind in ND. Who knows?

I can tell TGVET why a person would want the 8oz, more expensive bottles. When filling up on a dark, cold, windy morning the last thing I wanted to do was measure out 6 oz to add to my tank when I was in Minot, ND yesterday morning. In fact, there had to be a real good increase in MPG to convince me to go thru the trouble of measuring the amount of fuel in my aux tank (old broom handle marked off in 10 gal increments), then pouring sticky liquid from a jug to a measuring cup, then to a funnel at every fillup. I gave it my best shot. Towed and drove empty at 57-58 mpg, gradual increasing speed entering the freeway, all the good habits I use normally. Count me as one who was not sold on the product after using it.

Here I am this morning, snowed in in Taber, AB. Which reminds me. Stanadyne is supposed to be stored above 32* What good is that? I'm not going to keep it in the cab.

Your experience with additives mimics mine
My truck gets what it gets regardless of w/without snake oil
I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that the trucks that
See these improvements are not set up properly to begin with

I havent read all of this thread, but I am curious. It seems the test was to determine if stanodyne increases fuel miliage. I was under the impression that the only reason to use stanodyne was for lubricity for the vp-44 IP. So, .
unless you own a 98. 5 to 02, there is no value. But if you do own a 98. 5 to 02, you do need to add stanodyne (?)

If the answer is "the oil companies add a lubricant", then you probably do have to add stanodyne. I base that comment on how well the oil companies do with adding ethanol to gas. In a test in the seattle area recently, the ethanol content ranged from 10% to as high as 25%

Well, I am bummed... No explanation. Maybe BOB 4x4 is right i dont know what i am doing, OBVIOUSLY setting up all the trucks we build wrong. Seems weird i have been in business so long in such a small valley. Thanks for pointing that out BOB 4x4. THe only variable that i can think of would be elevation, lot more air available. And why wouldnt a p7100 need extra lube compared to the ulsd fuel? Its basically a small engine using fuel for lube. Anyway... we donated also, mainly because was brought up and those people really seem like they need some help. Hope it goes to all the right places. Thanks Games for doing the test, I am impressed with your mileage in the first place and was skeptical about any gaines. You are right the stuff does stink! They make a winter blend that doesnt have to be stored above freezing for those people that need it. I still believe in it and will continue to give 1 free bottle to every one of my new customers so it can sell it self, not like i make them buy it. Besides... it helps with water contamination, which we have a problem with, there are actually stations around here that you can see standing water on top of the fill lids for the storage tanks. One supplier (not station) has above ground tanks and we have such a varience in temp from day to night that it just doesnt seem right to me. Some of my fleet customers get fuel delivered to their yards from this supplier and have had bad problems with contamination. They buy stanadyne just to put in their storage tanks to deal with the water. There was a time when i could not keep enough injectors in stock to keep up with the contaminated ones coming in. SO, it is atleast good for that. Thanks to all involved with this thread!
