Hi Guys, I recently sold my 2006 ram 2500 TD (fuel injectors were going) and bought a 2017 3500 TD to pull my 5th wheel with less strain not to mention the heavy work loads I carry.

I'm due for my first oil change and accomplished it today. I wanted to change my fuel filter but their a little harder to find than I thought it was going to be. Apparently a lot of suppliers want to sell a water separator with.

Is it necessary to change the separator or can I drain it?

Thans in advance,

RAM calls for 15K mile changes of the fuel filters. You need a 28MM 6 point socket https://www.genosgarage.com/product/dodge-ram-cummins-fuel-filter-socket-tool-28mm-kti28128/tools for the engine mounted filter and a water sensor wrench for the rear filter https://www.genosgarage.com/product/lisle-34900/tools . Also a strap wrench works well for the rear filter removal https://www.genosgarage.com/category/s?keyword=strap+wrench . A piece of plastic tubing about 18" long that fits the bib to drain the rear filter will also fit inside the hose on the front filter for draining it. Snoking

The first time I looked at amazon it said they didn't fit the vehicle in my garage but once I put in the part # amazon changed their tune and could have saved me 30%
