2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Fuel Guage Went to Empty

Today while I was driving the 2000 with a little more than 1/4 tank the fuel gauge went to empty and the overhead says 0 miles to empty. Also the low fuel light came on. It had never given me any problems until today. Would this be caused by a failure in the sending unit or possibly a fuse?

Could be, could be a broken wire. The factory service manual has a complete troubleshooting procedure. Not a Haynes or Chiltons!!! The FSM is recommended by those who can't afford the time or money to just throw parts at a problem.

I have the complete fsm set. What section has the troubleshooting in it? If i can get to the sender wire near tank i know i can ground it and see if guage swings.
