What is the life expectancy of the diesel fuel hose from Larry B's. Changed my return hose on a parking lot in NY about 6 years ago or about 30k. Lucky to have it with me but still wasn't any fun on a Sat. afternoon in Sept got it the day before I left and didn't have time to do it then. Leaving in Dec. for a few weeks and don't want that to happen again. Changed the other one in 08 but used fuel injection hose on it. They sent one piece of 5/16 and one 3/8 and both of them are 5/16.

Larry B's hoses should last a long time. My 96 since has 5/16 return line and 3/8 supply line. Maybe in 96 because of the higher horse power ratings they changed the size of the supply line, but it seems to me that 5/16 return and 3/8 supply were for all 2nd gen 12 valves.

I will look tomorrow but I am pretty sure I used 5/16 on both. I have still got the 3/8 hose. I know one thing that 5/16 heavy hose was hard as rip to get on.

They do last longer, but not forever. The hoses are marine grade hoses. I did the Larry B hoses several years ago and think that I will need to do them soon since its starting to get hard to start if it sits for a long weekend. By hard to start I mean that it takes two seconds instead of one second to light off.

I'm going to disagree a bit. If I used the 5/16 on my supply, I would have to gorilla it on the tube. 3/8 is not easy, but works.

Another thing to check is the metal fuel lines themselves. I had to cut a few inches off mine at the transmission where the lines are supported by a bracket. Something rubbed through and made a leak. The resulting symptoms were the same as if the rubber lines were bad.

I don't know what the diffference is in the trucks but both of my metal lines comming from the tank are 5/16 metal they go into braided lines and back out with 5/16 supply and return. That trident hose is hard as rip to get on under the intake. The last time I changed I took a pair of needle nose pliers and oil and open the end a little to make it slide on. In 08 I changed the supply line but could not use the 3/8 tooooo big I got some fuel injection 5/16 and it slid right on.

surfbeetle I keep a eye on that little bracket. The lines should have been wraped with insulation where they snap in. When I changed the supply line I took them out of the bracket to make it easier to work on.

I cant speak for Larry's hoses, but I use J30R9 spec hose. It has a blue core.

It's supposed to be bio rated etc. etc.

It's about $5/ft.
