Was in the mountains Saturday morning, at 8am it was cold about 15*F, unplugged the cord to the block heater and fired up the cummins.

All was well until I looked at the fuel pressure gauge. It went from the usual steady 14psi up to 20psi and bounced to 22psi and settled down to 18-20psi. It's still today at 18-20psi and the air temp is about 65*F in Denver.

I'm using a Holly Blue pump down on the frame rail near the tank and it's only a year and a half old.

Could the pressure sender and/or the Westach gauge be going bad? Anyone had this happen to them? Thoughts Please.

Thanks,Tom

Just a thought when was the last time you changed your fuel filter. Pressure will increase as a result of resistance in the filter. Such as dirt or contaminates that the filter has in the media. Pump pressure will not increase unless there is resistance.

I noticed mine is doing the same thing. My Westach is hooked up to the VP44's Inlet, so I don't think the filter is the cause. The sender is mounted to the Brake Master Cylinder mount, and is plumbed in with a 1/8 Grease Gun Hose. I have the Glacier Diesel Wabro set up and it's ran flawlessly for years. I am not very worried about this, it just seems odd... .

I installed a FASS DDRP last July in my 98. 5 and I was getting a steady 16 lbs pressure until recently. Now it's reading 18 - 20 lbs. I haven't changed my fuel filter in awhile so I'll have to check that. I have an Isspro mech pressure gauge hooked up to the top of my filter housing and I'm running a straight 1/4" Hydraulic line to the gauge in the cab. I do have a shutoff valve at the housing and I have it about 1/8th open.
