Carroll County Coal Rollers

Three yrs. ago,my wife and I travelled from San Diego to Crescent City up 101 and 1. It was a beautiful trip and coincided with the height of the recession. We left Sept. 13,just as school reopened for many students. Because of the bum economy, campgrounds and sights were generally lightly occupied.

I can't tell you how many seniors we saw on Harleys,Hondas, etc. towing small trailers. They'd be setup in less than an hour, complete with tents, sleeping bags, pads and of course a nice meal on the picnic tables provided.

We also saw countless older folks driving their Corollas,Civics etc. and once again setting up a good camp in short order. I was in awe of the energy of these people enjoying the simple joys of life.

I'll always remember that trip and the hundreds of times I shifted the rig. :{That was one time I longed for an auto. :)

Gasoline and diesel fuel prices are, like almost everything else, ultimately regulated by consumers in the process commonly called supply and demand.

That only goes so far. In our world, demand for gas will never go to zero. Everything we do in life now depends on oil products.

BTW, demand is way down the the PNW. But, prices continued to rise. On top of that, when a refinery went down, the other refineries actually cut back production thus ensuring even lower supply. The "short supply" was manufactured. That is why there is going to be an investigation. What they will say is that they did nothing illegal. But it is pretty obvious that there is some collusion going on here.

Yes, I knew you wouldn't accept facts. You prefer to keep your fundamental dumocrap entitlement foundation and believe, while living in a socialist state with high taxes and heavy regulation, that evil big oil is gouging you. It is your absolute right to remain ignorant and I certainly don't challenge your right.

No different, when you think about it, than private snowflake, klabber, mamasbabeeee, gulldump, etc. believing that healthcare if going to be free.

If the situation were reversed, you would be complaining too. But when you live in oil country, I think you tend to be a little biased ? What do you think ?

Our economy continues to decline, more people have lost their jobs or fear that they will, and many of those who can afford vacations and travel fear a coming economic disaster of some kind and are afraid to spend. Some economists are now predicting a serious gloom and doom scenario next year with continuing inflation or "stagflation", the term coined during the peanut farmer administration, or perhaps, something worse.

As spending contracts demand for motor fuels declines and so does the price.

We have become a net exporter of refined oil products. So the refiners just export the extra keeping the local supply low. So we are dealing with International supply and demand.

I think, as usual, you have no clue and refuse to accept the numerous explanations that have been provided to you.

Can you not comprehend that you pay higher state taxes on motor fuels in your socialist state of WA than we do in my free market state of Texas?

Yes, we pay high taxes on fuel and I expect to pay more than you do. But that doesnt explain why our fuel cost was going up when it was dropping everywhere else. We were paying more than we paid when oil was at $150.

Taxes are fixed, and they have not increased for a couple of years.

If we were paying $8/gal, and you were paying $2/gal, you would say it was because of our taxes.

You're really a dumocrap at your core. Do you want nobama to nationalize the oil industry and have government set the prices and have government employees to pump it?

Do you think the crude oil supplies, refiners, wholesale distributors, and retail stations should provide it to you at cost?

You'll never understand supply and demand economics because your mind is closed. Just vote for nobama and he'll take care of fuel pricing for you.

I have to say you are completely clueless. The price of fuel has been manipulated in this area. Your comments prove you to be completely naive.

I paid $3. 75 today, down from about $4. 60 a week or 2 ago. Seems like it started to drop when the ftc was invited to investigate.
