What size fuel tank(s) did the '93 D350 Extended Cab Dually come with? My recently purchased Cummins has a malfunctioning fuel gauge, so until I'm able to repair it I'm trying to determine how many miles per tank between refueling.

From what I have seen, the 4x4's had the 25 gal tank and the 4x2's had the 30 gal tank.
Now for the rare occasion of a regular cab short bed pickup, I don't know what that would have come with.

well my last crewcab I built was useing a 93 2 wheel drive tank and most it ever took on bone dry was 26 gal's and that was a hard fill the truck I am building will also have the same yr tank but this was a drw 1 ton so I guess we will see

All 1st gens with a Cummins had a 30 gallon tank. No options.

I can fill mine up until it clicks "off" then can slowly get three more gallons in it.

If you ever take the tank off, there is a way to get more fuel in it faster.

I have to disagree
I had the VIN printout from the dealer for both of the trucks in my sig. The D250 had a 30 gallon tank and the W350 had a 25 gallon tank.
I also took both tanks to almost empty and refiiled. The capacities were as accurate as the pump.

I would disagree right back at ya. :-laf

That is interesting.

What year are the trucks you speak of?

My 92 W250 has the vin printout too and found more than one discrepincy.

One of them being it said I have a 25 gallon tank and it will hold all of 30.

Mine had a 30 gal tank.

And I have to agree with glhs that I had several "untruths" about my truck that did not agree with the VIN info, the door data stickers, etc.

I seem to remember that the long beds of the 1st. gen. era, gas or diesel had 30 gal. tanks. The short bed 1/2 tons were 26. My memory is "gettin" bad tho:)

My 93 club cab long bed diesel has a stock 30 gallon tank. The 2nd tank I added out of an 80s gasser as an aux tank is 25-26 gallons. They look so close to each other it is amazing to think there is 5 gallons diffrence between them.

Do the senders in your 30 gallon tanks trip the Low Fuel indicator when you're 21 gallons down? That's about when mine comes on. I've never put more than 24 or so gallons (my usual is 22) in before it's full, and I do top off my tank. Granted, it could still be a 30 gallon tank that will only fill to 25. Some Jeep have 19 gallon tanks that, because of the filler geometry, can only be filled to 15-ish.

The low fuel light can vary too.

I have had three 1st gens and they would kick on with 3-5 gallons left.

The only way to know for sure is to run out of fuel. :{

That's in line with mine being a 25 gallon tank... the light comes on when I need about 21 gallons to fill it.

My '90 D350 with the classic cab has a 30 gallon tank on it. I average about 300-350 miles before i need to fill up. I average about 18-19 miles per gallon on my truck.

You fill up when you still have 10 gallons in the tank? 350 miles at 18 mpg is less than 20 gallons of fuel used. I get more than 350 miles out of my 25 gallon tank before my low fuel indicator comes on, and I only get about 17 mpg.
