Competition twins

Off Roading Gateway gumbo mudders

A little birdie told me that Jim Fulmer just layed down 844 on #2 and 873 with water/meth those #s are with 022 dvs. He pulled 816 on #2 with 181 dvs.

And made it home in one piece (God Bless) and did 17. 3 MPG :) I'll give you'll a run down on the data, dyno sheets and issues when I'm rested..... I'm on 23 hrs today..... daddy's sleepy and has Church in 3 hours.

Jim

Thanks guys! It seems like I've been beating my head against the door and someone finally opened it... ..... yes I know he's in charge.

Here is a short run down. I knew when I cleaned the smoke up that something odd was happening, the truck was running great or spooky depending on how you looked at it. I saw EGT's drop as well as air temps after I installed the new charger but I've been fooled before. The first runs were in street trim with no big timing and 181 DV's, the numbers were 816 on #2 and 844 with water on. I then pulled it off and swapped out DV's to . 022's then back on for a #2 run of I believe 848 then water on to 873. Hopefully Wes will check these numbers for me as I don't have graph with numbers on run #4 (#2 only). The last runs Wes wanted T/Q also so they hooked it up, Max T/Q was 1423@ 3100 and max power was at 3400... ... ..... yes it's late, real late, that's the next big project.

Small issues were on the last set of runs I lost something in the water system so I'll trouble shoot that as the number should have been a little higher.

Even though it's late for spooling, when it does, it goes from 20-80 psi in just a few hundred rpm. Air intake temps were a max of 105 degrees on fuel and below that on water(it can't measure lowest temp if you start at 100).

My best #2 run prior to today was 750 with a 1. 01 correction(fall of 04') so that's a 66 hp jump on fuel and the current numbers are at a . 99 correction. I don't see 900 hp as being an issue to achieve with some changes but I might get humbled again.

Jim you're correct on all of your numbers. Again congratulations.

Thanks to everybody who came out for the event. We had a blast hosting it and it seemed that everybody stayed entertained. Between the dyno and the drag strip only 100yds away (if that) there was plenty to be seen.

Jim I can't wait to see that thing get dialed in. You do need more fuel you were getting a little to clean on the top end. Well a little to clean compared to last years dyno at Big Dawg.

Congrats and I hope you have space left on a shelf or wall for your momento.

Thanks,

Wes Snow

..

Way to go Jim! That thing is coming along nicely. Do you know how many CC's your injector pump is flowing? What injectors are you running?. . or. . is that classified? :p

The pump is not that radical as told by cleaning the smoke up..... yes I know the cc's but it's irrelevant to me as it wasn't tested with my injectors! The Injectors are Industrial Injections EDM's that I've had for a year now.

When I showed up I had no clue what it was going to do as it has not been tested except on the road!

BTW, the Phat Shaft is set conservative for good drive pressure and not max boost.

Jim that is awesome, congrads on the huge #. you never stop amazing people here on the board. i knew something was up when you kept hinting about someone using the SPS66 in a twin combo.

Hello Jim,

I can't tell you how impressed I was with your truck. I bet you had enough left over adrenaline to get you all the way back wih no caffine!

Considering how your making power that late with your new PS66 I'll bet your truck would see a substantial power increase with some more timing added. With a different cam to help mitigate the bottom-end effects of the added timing, it might be something worth thinking about. With more timing, a different cam, getting your water perfected, and a little more pump, 900 seems very reachable. Call me crazy, but I don't think 1000 is too much of a stretch with the truck in dyno trim!!!

Funny that only a few picked up on that. Brady and I have been talking about it for quite some time but I'm no money pit so it happens when it happens. That turbo works great in a Twin Setup, no issues what so ever, but don't count the 62 out either, it's cheaper and tough as nails. This will become the #1 turbo from them!

Travis, I'd like to quit but things like this keep you going! I'll tear a few things down and evaluate this week as I don't mind turning wrenches for some odd reason.

Hey guys here's one for you, Crawler put this thing together knowing he was going to loose money and he did, he paid for us to dyno or race. The next time, were going to have to come up with something different so he can at least break even. It's like the truck offering plate :)

Wes called me today and was telling me how I was standing on the throttle with leg locked and had white knuckles holding on to the wheel with left foot in front of the brake petal... ..... ready for the kill switch... ... I don't notice these things, it's just a reaction! It actually spooks me running close to 150 mph on the dyno!

I've always wanted to perfect timing but never had the chance, and yes 900 should be made quickly!

1000 might be a pipe dream! Good to see you post finally!

(2) Hydroxycut (2) cups of coffee, (1) Diet coke, a shower and a 23 hour day later I laid down for my 2. 5 hours of sleep before Church... ... ... :) It was worth it!
