To dual or not to dual, what should I dual?

My furnace quit. I replace the thermal couple thinking that was the problem. It will light now but it is hard to get going. It won't stay going and the main burner won't come on. Do you think it is the main regulator or is it time for a new furnace? The trailer is 20 years old, we are going to get rid of the trailer. Will be getting a new one real soon so I am debating on whether to fix it or just sell the thing as is. I hate to sell it to someone if everything is not working, just the way I am.

For a 20 year old trailer, I'd sell it "as is" and let them know about the problem. The trailer probably isn't worth enough to justify the expense on the selling end.

What are you replacing it with?

Thanks Klenger. I was sorta feeling that way myself. I just hate to sell something that isn't working right.

Been looking for quite a while for a new trailer. The wife wants one with some counter space, arent a lot of them available in a 23 or 24 long trailer. We don't want one any longer, do a lot of camping in WA and OR and that is about the longest that will fit some of the campgrounds. We don't like the full hookup sites that have the trailers jammed close together so usually just go for the dry camps or ones with water only.

Looked at an Arctic Fox, I see you have one. I asked about these 8 months or so ago and there were good replies for them. We are still looking at this point, have the money, just want one we both like. Also want a small slide, this is also something trailers that length also don't have a lot of the time.

I just replaced my furnace in a 87' Thought it was the motor at first - not supplying enough air pressure to keep the air flow switch (sail switch) in the closed position thus turning off the gas valve.

Nope

$150. 00 + 2hour personal time

Maybe bad regulator

Nope

$35. 00 + 1 hour

Take back out to test sail switch, over-temp switch & All other saftey devices in series with gas valve

Nope all ok 2 hours

Take out mother board and take to C World to test it

Inconclusive 3. 5 hours

But they had new furnaces on sale and it was getting cold.

Works great!

I'm 99% sure if mother board was replaced it would work ($120. 00 from C world)

Do you want it ?It has a new motor.

I don't know what my point was except it felt good for me just to talk about it and put the whole experience behind me and get on with my life.

Check all the connections. I thought my heat was shot in my old TT, but it was only a bad connection. This was an 1984 trailer, I dont think it was EVER used in the cold weather.

I was at an RV show a few months back. I really loved the way the Artic Fox was built.

If it wasnt so dam expensive, I would have gotten that.

what kind of trailer

We have a 2001, 24' ft Komfort 5er with a slide... What I like about it is... has 2 graywater tanks (bath and kitchen tanks) and has shocks on both axles. After checking a lot of different brands we decided on the komfort not only for price but how the slideout mechanism was constructed. Still fits in just about all campsites but the slideout makes all the difference in the world with a shorter trailer.

Furnace Problems

You may have accumulated an oily substance in a low spot in the line between the LP bottle and the furnace. Disconnect the line and lower it toward the ground. You may be surprised at what runs out.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry for not getting back faster with a response, been gone for a few days.

I'll check the connections and supply lines for problems and then will just sell it "as is" or give it to my son if he wants it.

We are looking at trailers, not fifth wheels. I know, they are better to pull but I like my truck bed space. I have not had any problems with sway with the 22' TT we have even when a truck blows by. Found a Tahoe last week that is pretty nice, also found a Komfort that is about what we want. The Komfort place has a big sale this coming weekend, I'll see what they can do. I like the aluminum frame better than the wood and also want fiberglass siding rather than aluminum.
