Well guys I installed my ISSPRO Pyro Gauge, Boost & Fuel Pressure Gauge. . And the good news is the whole gauge install went pretty good. . Except for a few minor things... Like when hooking the boost bolt up with the boost hose that runs to the gauge the one compression fitting didn't look right & when I took it out it rolled somewhere on the floor and could not be found. . #@$%! And I couldn't get one because it was 8:00 at night... But today I got a new one & got the gauge hooked up and now when I get on it hard the boost gauge goes up to about 21psi... So everything is good there... . And the Pyro wasn't too hard the worst part was tapping the manifold, but one of my buddies help me out with that... We ended up separating the turbo for the manifold just to make sure no shavings got in the turbo. . And that gauge is working great... .

Now the Bad news... For my fuel pressure gauge I tapped into the bottom of my fuel filter withy a banjo bolt and once I got everything sealed back up I bumped the starter a few times and the truck ran for like 3 sec and shut off and could not be started... So I ended up taking the Fuel Filter out and there was diesel in it but not filled all the way... so with the cap off I bumped the starter and fuel was just dribbling in from the LP... So I let it fill the canister up put the Fuel Filter back in and after about 10sec of cranking it came back to life. . :) so I got all the gauges hooked up & started it up & had 0psi for my FP. . So I got a gauge off one of my buddies and hooked it up to the test port and got 0 as well so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones to have a defective LP... #@$%!

So now the truck is sitting because I don't want to run the risk of damaging the Injector Pump. . So now my next question is I'm looking to go with the FASS II... Because it has a warranty & will hopefully last longer then a new LP. . My question does this pump mount by the tank & does it totally eliminate the dying LP...

If you own a 24v truck I would deff suggest you install at least a FP gauge so you don't cost yourself a lot of money in the future to replace 2 pumps instead of one... .

Sorry to hear that, I just got around to installing a gauge myself a couple weeks back.

Fortunately my LP didn't fail right after the install, but is certainly very weak (very low pressures). It is crazy stupid that dodge hasn't acknowledged this and tried to fix this.

I don't have a FASS (obviously), but have paid a close bit of attention to those threads and do believeboth the FASS system and the FASS HP pump mounts significantly closer to the tank (off the frame rail) and does eliminate the OEM LP, and probably the OEM filter with the FASS system.

good luck JJ

yes the fass will get rid of the lp an the factory filter setup ive had mine for almost a year no problems! well worth the money ,go for it!

Some one had mentioned a while ago that maybe Dodge was going to put the pumps in the tanks . And kinda hinted that maybe they would update older trucks, with the pusher. Is there anymore info on this idea? Anyone???

FASS seems to be the most popular But before you get one I'd suggest reading this

Basic AirDog Air Removal / Fuel Filtration Process:

1. Diesel Fuel is drawn into the AirDog under a High Vacuum condition.

2. As the fuel enters the AirDog, it is pulled through the Water Separator Element to remove any large debris and water.

3. Following the Water Separator, the fuel is drawn through the AirDogs fuel pump.

* Up to this point, the fuel is under a High Vacuum. This causes the air bubbles in the fuel to grow in size due to the decreased atmospheric pressure.

* As the fuel passes through the water separator and fuel pump, many of these bubbles will join with each other to form even larger air bubbles.

4. Upon leaving the fuel pump, the fuel (now with larger air bubbles) passes into the AirDogs fuel filter.

* The filter media in the AirDog does not easily pass the air bubbles. Instead, they gather on the outside of the filter element (dirty side) until they become buoyant enough to rise to the top.

* Separated from the pressurized inlet, there is a regulated outlet passage on the "Dirty Side" of the filter where the air and fuel can be pushed out and back to the tank.

* The 6 Micron Filter Media is Key to the function of this setup as it allows little to no air to pass. Ekstam will have a 2 Micron media available sometime in the near future as well.

5. The fuel (and a few air bubbles under 6 micron in size) pass through the fuel filter media into the "Clean Side" of the filter.

* On the "Clean Side" of the filter, the air bubbles once again rise to the top where there is yet another regulated outlet passage that returns to the tank (note the gap between the threaded nipple and the standpipe)

6. "Clean" fuel is sent to the engine through the standpipe that picks up at the bottom of the fuel filter.

This above is NOT intended to be a highly detailed technical description of all of the AirDogs inner workings. Ekstam Worldwide holds several Federal Patents on the Air Separation technology they have been developing over the last 14 years. The newest of their Patents was granted in early 2004 to cover the advancements incorporated into the AirDog units.

Charles Ekstam (owner of Ekstam Worldwide and inventer of the Fuel Preporator) is more than willing to discuss the air separation process used in his products to whatever level of detail you desire. Please feel free to call him at 1-877-GO-DIESEL.

fass

If you go to the fass web site, look at the fass pump only literature, then download the install manual, it shows exactly where it is mounted. The mounting bracket attaches to the box cross member just ahead of the filler hose. It comes with the 3/8" I. D. hose to run from the tank to the pump and then all the way to your stock filter housing. Piece of cake. You up grade your fuel system and retain your stock filter housing. I wish this would have been out on the market last year, think I would have went this way, oh well I like mine too.

Yes the bombing bug got me even though I said it won't... . :-laf :-laf The gauges look awesome & now I'm ready for some more power as well as a transmission upgrade in the future... .

I ordered the FASS II system today from Rip... As i find out that he has great customer service & well as some competitive prices... I got 2nd day delivery so I can get my truck back out on the road as soon as possible... Because right now I'm driving my 1990 ford taurus which I've had since I was 16... . And I probably put enough money into that that i could have bought a brand new truck years ago... #@$%! But thats a different subject :-laf :-laf It has served me well and is getting me to & from work while I'm working on my truck... .

It looks like I will have the pump on wednesday so I will start the install that night & see how long it takes & let everyone know the results...

engcogod, good for you on ordering your pump, I am sure you will like it much better than the stocker. A word of advice,, if I were you I would spray the quick disconnect on the tank now with wd-40 or equivalent and let it soak before you start your install. I had one witch of a time getting mine un-hooked when I installed my fass. It looks easy, but they can be a pain. I used a gear clamp in place of the connector that came with the kit, not too fond of anything 'quick disconnect', IMO. But now I have the 1/2" suction line/pipe running in the tank, so I am not using the tank module suction line. Good luck, anxious to hear how it works for you. :D

I have the FASS and if I had it to do over again I would do Air Dog. The customer service at FASS STINKS   !! I called about filters and just kept getting sent to dealers. Nobody they sent me to had the filters, and its amazing how the dealers where so ticked off  at FASS. High min orders, wrong orders, and alot of you must do's. Plus the FASS filters are hydraulic filters and that makes them harder to get. I called atleast 20 places and nothing!! Finally the guy down at napa crossed and crossed and crossed and got me a 10 micron filter. I think it is just BAD business to not want to handle the calls themself, heck all I wanted to do was buy a few filters :( :( .

You'll like the FASS pump and it's pretty easy to install. Not sure about the filter issues raised by KB above; however, that is one of the reasons I went with the pump only and left the preporator alone.

filters

Must be things have changed in the last six months. I have ordered the 3 micron filter (HF6604) twice from Brad at diesel performance and never had a minutes trouble. Called their #, asked for Brad, had the order done, shot the breeze for a few... . filter here in 2 days... . four states away. I know the hf6604 is an odd ball filter, tried crossing it locally here too,,, no luck, but I will not sacrifice micron rating for "something close".

filter price

Sorry to hear you couldn't get past the secretary/wife? When ever I called she just asked who it was then transferred me to Brad. Maybe he is too busy to take calls anymore... not sure. Anyway, the Fleetguard HF6604 (3-micron) filter as of last August anyway, is $24 plus $12 u. p. s. from Missouri to Michigan. He said it is the same shipping price for two filters,,, of course like an idiot I only ordered one. . lol. Hope this helps you out.
