I'm looking at purchasing an '01 HO 4X4 with the six speed and I have a question. The plastic that covers the dash gauges is damaged and I was wondering if you can replace the plastic without replacing the gauges.

Thanks,

Michael

I'd think you should be able to (never had to do it myself). Pry off the black plastic on the dash (like if you were going to remove the radio), and there's a handful of screws that hold on the plastic that covers the gauges.
The dealer might have it, or you could probably take it to a glass shop and they might be able to make something out of Lexan for you.

Yep it comes off. I had a piece of something (don't know what) that fell behind in my old '01 truck and it drove me crazy so I had to try to get it out. Take the black bezel off and there are several screws holding the clear plastic on. Really easy to do. Just throw the steering wheel in the full down position.

the clear lenze that is attached to a black frame is called a mask. I replaced one in a neon, dodge said "not servicable, comes with a cluster for $150" well I looked it up in the crash parts book and found a part number and ordered it for $22. So try looking in a crash parts book at the dodge dealer.

. . . I was wondering if you can replace the plastic without replacing the gauges . . .

You can - the Dodge boys are real proud of P/N 56020161 LENS, Cluster
