Gauges & steering pods

What gauges do (or dont) work in a steering pod? I have Autometer Ultralites and I wanted to stick another one in a steering column pod. Anybody tried this? It looks like a relatively tight fit between the back of the steering wheel and where the front of the bezel would be.

Jim, I have the WesTech duel gauge on the steering pod. The advertisment says that the Westech protrudes out too far and will rub on the back of the steering wheel, not so on mine. I have plenty of clearance. My dash setup is same as yours.

I scince have changed out that Ultra lite to an isspro white faced / blue lit number unit and it matches perfectly. any guage will work EXCEPT any fuel pressure guage that uses -2An braided hose. the adapter angle is way too long and it won't work. (In fact that was a ultra lite unit with a mechanical isolator that used braided stainless connect hose which did not fit)

What you are saying, is that in fact, maybe an autometer ultralite might fit the pod in question, (without rubbing on the back of the steering wheel?)

I need to order the gauge anyways, but I just wanted to see if it would clear first.

Jim I know for a fact that the ELECTRIC sending unit Fuel pressure guage fits as that is what I have pictured. The MECHANICAL one does not. Isspor fits perfectly as that is what I have now (Wanted to match my white faced guages)

Thanks Tim. I can see why the Mechanical wouldnt fit with the line on the back. I have one of those on the bottom off my triple A pillar and it was a biatch getting that line routed.

I have the diprocols



Boost gauge is on the stearing collum useing the autometer stearing collum mount avalible from genos



IT DOES NOT FIT ... . NOT EVEN CLOSE



Just to make it work I had to drill a small hole in the back of the mount for the boost line to pass threw I also had to HACK the all thread off the back of the gauge and it still stuck out about an INCH !!!!!!!!!!!!! It is fully depressed in to the pod it just dont fit . .



to make the matters worst The sides of the gauge is GOLD/BRASS looking so it stuck out like a sore thumb I had to put a thin Wrap of electrical tape around the gauge in between the gauge face and the mount I also had to slide the Gauge gasket over the tape and up against the mount ... . It dont look as bad as you think but its still not what was promissed by the mounting applications . .



The gauge did rub the steering wheel but after so long it just pushed the mount back far enogh to where it dont hit Minus a little black paint from the gauge face...

Get the 3 Gauge full piller



I couldnt because I have the little tweeter and mine is after market and I had to dremel out the factory piller to fit the speaker on the after market pillers with a speaker there was not enough room for me to mod so I got a 2 gauge Piller pod PYRO/FP and A boost on my stearing collum.



Again I repeat..... If you have the option go for the 3 gauge full piller

Thanks, but I already have the 3 pillar. I am just adding another gauge. A friend of mine gave me the pod cause he didnt like it. I just need to figure out what to add.

Just use the gauge that is proven to fit dont chace it. .



Its also a bit scary drilling the stearing collum for the push clips I suppose you could remove it from the stearing collum ... I didnt and was sweeting bullets

Thats good advice, and thats why I posted. . to find out which ones fit and which ones dont. I installed an Isspro mechanical fuel press. gauge on a column pod for a friend and a small area of the bezel rubs the back of the steering wheel. He was kinda ****** about it, and I dont blame him.

I have the DiPricol fuel pressure gauge on a steering mount and had to notch out the back of the mount so that the isolator-to-gauge nylon tubing and wiring would fit. The notch is hidden under the dash though and the gauge sits fully into the pod. Also used a bit of sticky back velcro to snug the mount down onto the steering column instead of drilling it.

the 3rd gen mounts are alot deeper and have a wider range of applications the 2nd gen (single gauge only BTW) are not as universial

Yeah, but I wanted to put the boost gage on the column and it wouldn't fit. (I have a six speed) and ended up putting the pyro on the column and the boost gage in the SRT-10 pillar (basically what you have without the FP gage.
