1996 12 valve stock injector suggestions?

Coolant leak

Hello folks, While I'm waiting for the crankshaft seal install tool to arrive, I had ordered the timing gear cover gasket set. (Felpro TCS 46001)

Inspecting the set, I found I have a question:

Besides the metal depth tool provided and the seal itself, the set included a seal ring that appears to me to be perhaps a dust seal maybe for the rear side of the seal?

If that is in fact what it is, am I correct that it is to be set into the seal after the seal is installed into the gear cover with the install tool?

Or am I completely wrong ang the "dust seal ring" im referring to not even used in this application???

This question has been asked before and I don’t recall what the answer was. It was not on your engine when Cummins built it.

I have replaced my front seal three times in it’s almost 600K miles. First time was a Cummins seal, second time was a Cummins seal and wear ring, and this last time I used two of the Cummins seals after removing the wear ring. I did this after reading a post by @GAmes where he had done it. A couple of months ago a friend and I replaced all seals and gaskets except the head, oil pan, and crank seals. The dual seals had been in @ 50K miles and were sealing well.

Thanks BigPapa, I just called Felpro and spoke to a Tech rep.
I also searched further here on TDR forums.
I believe I found the thread you were referring to .

The dust seal I'm asking about can be used if I wish as a secondary dust/mud seal outside of the oil seal, between the harmonic balancer and the oil seal. The tech said the dust shield is sometimes spec'ed for extreme environments, harsh duty, but not absolutely required.

The tech shared install page which shows placement.
I will attach it here.
