C-6 problems

I am looking for a generator in the 7000-9000 watt range. I will be using it as a generator to power my little miller 175 welder (22 amp at 240 volt) when I am away from the shop, as a backup generator for the house, and will be put in the bed of my truck to power the horse trailer so I don't want something REALLY loud. Is there any generator that will work for all this?

Thanks for the help

David

My recomendation is a little different than these guys.....

Buy a Miller Bobcat 225 welder. It gets you a 10k watt generator and a stick welder in one package. Cost is about 2500 dollars.

I use mine as a generator more than a welder. It fits in the bed of a truck without taking up too much room.

i know generac makes two portable versions, but both put out more than what your are looking for, (12kw and a 15kw) both are very reliable.

My suggestion is even better: Do as I plan to do in the near future and get the Miller Bobcat 250D. It has the Kubota diesel engine and 10kw of generator power. It is MUCH quieter than the gasoline engine powered units. It uses the 19 horse 3-cylinder engine, which is the same as what is in my Kubota mower. The Kubota is a quiet, smooth running, efficient and reliable engine. Far better than any gasoline small engine. I recommend this unit because I have done quite a lot of research on generators and welders and found this one to be the best combination of both. For less than the price of a 10kw diesel generator, you get a welder and generator in one package. The extra cost of the diesel engine will be well worth it in efficiency, reliability, durability and quiet sound. Listen for yourself. small gasoline engines are noisy, but the Kubota 3-cylinder is exceptionally smooth running and very quiet in comparison.

One idea would be get the Honda EU series as they can be coupled together to get more power. That way you have lighter weight to deal and can take a smaller unit when you only need 3k. much more expense route though.

PSwe have a 15k Honda it is NOT quiet like the small EU 2000i series which we also have which is darn near silent, friend had a 10k Yamaha and it was the loudest gen I had ever heard( yes it still had a muffler on it)
