geno's eliminator

does anyone know if you can modify the stock pipe from your air cleaner to your turbo inlet to get the same effect as the eliminator pipe offered at geno's garage??? Oo.

but, i heard it can be replaced w/5" exhaust pipe -- i was going to try it..... i don't need a powder coated eliminator do-hicky, i need something cheap, so if i don't like it i can chuck it!

i've also heard that with out the sound baffling material, it gets quite obnoxious on extended trips.

FWIW, I took out my silencer ring, and fixed that pipe up. I took the snorkel off, and removed the flexible rubber from both ends of that pipe. the solid plastic tube that you're left with has an x shaped honeycomb looking thing in it. I took an air hammer with a chisel bit and knocked it out. It's basically loose inside there. They insert it at the factory, and then press the two ends of the plastic container together, and that keeps it still. I hacked mine out with that chisel. There was no damage to the existing tube. The only downside is that once you take the honeycomb out, you can never put it back. That whole tube assembley would have to be replaced. I like the sound though, and am glad I did it. I have yet to tow a heavey load since doing that, so I can't say what it sounds like when the turbo really gets going under load.



I have a friend local to me who is also a TDR member who decided that the two ends of the canister could be separated and simply pull the honeycomb out... WELL... . he has 9 screws on each end of the tube holding it together now. We wouldn't recommend that method.

yepper, that is certainly one way to "fix" it

Sorry, my bad. I thought Macker wanted to know if there was an aftermarket part available for the intake piece he was describing. Also, I interpreted his reference to the eliminator pipe as Geno's MUFFLER eliminator pipe.

We took my whole assembly apart. My friend popped it apart at the seam on the end and took the guts out in one piece. Then we just bolted it back together with two small machine screws. The screws are on the exterior lip, so there is no way it could get into the turbo. The nice thing is I can put it back together later.



As for the 5" exhaust pipe, it won't work. I tried it before we gutted the silencer. It is about 1/4"too small.

My DD airbox came with a pipe to replace the honeycomb, and an aFe filter.

Hanging on to the original isnt a bad idea. You can put it back in before you tow long distance and the like. Mine does cut the whistle from the b1. I kinda like it (the whistle) around town but on the long tow I can live without it.

I recently bought the AFE filter system, the intake silencer delete pipe and the muffler elimination pipe from GENO'S. Before buying the intake silencer delete pipe, I gutted the factory intake silencer using a hacksaw blade to cut out the plastic honeycomb. It definately makes a difference, but still has the series of step-like ridges around the circumference of the inside of the pipe. I like the Geno's eliminator pipe's design. Basicly, it looks like it is just a piece of 5" exhaust pipe swelled out or a 5" to 5" exhaust pipe coupling which has been powder coated. The Geno's (exhaust) muffler eliminator is a high quality piece also. The combination of the AFE, the intake silencer delete, the muffler delete pipe and the AWOL silencer ring REALLY lets the turbo sing and makes this otherwise TOO QUIET truck sound like a diesel should!

The$35 subscription fee is easy to recover with the information you receive. The problem is your wallet will never be the same once you start bombing.

What I did was use 2 Pvc female adapters 4" and a small piece of PVC pipe. Took about 20 minutes to cut, glue togeather and install.

It looks smaller but the ID is almost the same. I figured being close to the engine would melt the PVC but it has been there for a little over 10,000 miles and no signs of melting.



Just a easy and quick fix.

The screws are on the outer lip of the tube- complete with nuts and lock washers... ... not as stupid as I look

Just an FYI. That pipe is not powder coated. It has a high temp, 1300f metallic ceramic thermal barrier coating on it. This is an insulating coating, ie;, you can hold your hand an inch or two away from a 1000f pipe and not burn your hand! Sorry, it's my baby!

The factory piece has and o. d, where the rubber elbows clamp, of 5. 25". I'm going to rework mine to better fit the Scotty III, but I have a different idea... pics to come.
