Has anyone installed one of these? What are your thoughts on installation, performance, etc. ? I am thinking of ordering, but would like more info and user input.

I put one on my 94 last year. Simple to install. Will change the element this spring. Use permetex on the gaskets. I saw it as inexpensive insurance for our 5 & 6 speeds. #ad

I don't have a manual transmission, but I can't help but wonder about an external filter for them. Don't these thing use splash lubrication? If so what is going to pump the lub thru the filter?

I've got one on my 93. When I change the trans fluid I will run an analysis on the old fluid later this year and will be able to compare it with past analysis readings.
I will post my observations in the forum.
Happy trails.

Joe, The filter bolts in place of the PTO cover on the trans. As the gears rotate, it slings the lube thru the housing. It passes thru a little filter, then comes out the bottom of the housing, back into the trans #ad

MY 2 CENT'S
with 720,000 mi on my 96 5 spd and tear down back at (complete) 350K to field test the latest (split-nut fix) and mike'd the bearing's to double check the lube's performance, spend the $$ on something else---how ever if you own a gut-rig Pre-94 install a filter with elect. circulation pump the lube needs all the cooling it can get because the bearing rifling feed hole's are not adequate.
