Geno's Muffler Eliminator

After listening to more than a couple Dodge Diesels running without mufflers, I ordered the Muffler Eliminator kit from Geno’s. (I love that sound!) Although I truly expect no impact (forgive my naiveté – I’m new to this) other than that sweet diesel song, is there anything I need to look out for performance-wise, warranty-wise or otherwise? I think I’d enjoy the ME if no higher power (the local Pfuzz or The Wife) raises no serious objections. Since I will rarely be pulling hard, I don’t think the noise will be too overpowering in the cab. Anyone have a two-penny response/comment? Thanx!

I would also recommend the K&N replacement air filter. I think it's better that the OEM and you can hear your turbo spool up. Some people say it helps fuel economy and hp, also. Nothing clearly proves that point as far as I know. I do know it comes standard in many of the upgrade kits (like Banks), so they obviosly think it is an improvement over stock.

where do you get this eliminator kit and how much? I looked in the Geno's Garage link on the TDR homepage and didn't find any muffler eliminator kit, as always thanks for the help

The muffler eliminator Kit is part# 0079-ME Kit-$69. 00. A tip from a guy that has used it. The factory exhaust pipes do NOT come apart very easy. I wrestled with mine for hours. The clamps on my exhaust were over tightened so the pipes were crimped together. I had to get mine RED HOT before I could seperate them. Had a local garage do it. Didnt have a hot enough torch..... Just worth mensioning.

Your cab noise will increase, at least mine did. The neighbors will not invite you to parties from here on. But I get the coolest turbo whistle at the end of the tailpipe. Sounds like the teapot has reached the proper temperature while idleing. Your performance will not change. The two reasons to remove it IMHO, it will reduce egt, in particular when towing, and it may reduce back pressure on the turbo.
When I installed mine, I recall hack sawing the connection to the resonator to get it apart.
It will be significantly LOUDER.

HVAC speaks the truth! His was the loudest rig at the Bay Area Ram Runners meeting last Friday. Some guy commented "wow, that's loud" when hvac pulled up.

We'll see how it stacks up the the 4" exhaust I am installing next week.

I enjoy being noticed. Good thing I had the "Blue Box" in low range! If you install that 4" exhaust system, I will be forced to take counter measures. I'm thinking dual 5" stacks? It may be necessary to add propane afterburners for greater affect at night.

'Kinda makes me wonder now if I should just go with the 4" exhaust versus the ME. I checked out Ted Janetty's site. Saw the kit, but saw no pricing. (I'd probably have to buy the kit and install it myself; I can't see making out to SoCal for the mechanic that was recommeneded earlier on this board (to install a 4" system), and I'm not yet aware of any good ones in the Tulsa area. ) And I certainly see the K&N filter in the near future. From the posts it almost seems that the K&N needs to be standard equipment... 'Listening, DC?

I agree about the K&N standard. What kind of black brush guard and where are you getting it? I have the black Westin nerfs and can tell they look great and work great.

'Gone Dodge on the brush/grill guard and bed rails - both black powder-coat (see page 28 of the 2000 Ram catalog). After running chrome Westins on my current '97 CC stroker, I couldn't think of putting anything else but Westin black powder coats on the new one - but I want EVERYTHING to be black this time...
