Don't get me wrong there are some very good German beers that are not "dark", just not your typical Bud/Coors. Helles is actually very light in color but full of flavor. Pils, still light in color but more malt flavor. The "dunkle" or dark beers are quite good. Hefeweizens (cloudy wheat beer) are much stronger tasting than our Blue Moon/Shock Top wheat beer wannabe's. I had a smoked malt pils that was to die for! ENJOY

As for the "slow lane" maybe you should call it the "not as fast lane". :-laf

I don't know about no speed limits. Last time I was there, about 4 years ago everywhere we went was posted for speed. I gather that most everywhere is posted but mostly ignored. The police don't stop for speeding but the posted speed comes into affect if there is an accident or some such. It is now against the law to flash your headlights at slower traffic in front of you. Now they just use their turn signals on the people in front of them.

I was there 2 years ago and there are sections with and without speed limits. All the towns and metro areas have them

1 to 1. 25. Not bad. That still put a liter of beer in Munich at about $8. 75. The exchange rate was about 1. 33 the last time I was there.

p-Bar **** if you are still available ****

Save you receipts from large purchases. I think there is a form available at the retailers too. You can get the VAT you pay back when you leave the country. I forget the whole process, I know I screwed up and didn't get a couple of forms I needed.

checking in from Baden Baden so far been great rented a diesel (of course) out of the cummins had to settle for a Mercedes wagon . Will be saving big receipts thanks

You might consider getting the euro city SD card for your Garmin. When you get back from the trip you can sell it. The download is non transferable and locked to the unit.

We're heading to Italy in the fall, and I'm probably going to pick up a used Garmin SD card, then sell it again when I get back.
