Yeah, if you like the truck and don't want to be back up under there
in another 50K miles or so doing the exact same thing then Yeah,
a NV4500 is the way to go..... the converstion for a 4x4 is easier than
a 4x2 try and follow these links...

http://www.standardtransmission.com/
http://www.drivetrain.com
http://advanceadapters.com
Advance adapters sells the bellhousing kit for your conversion. Quad
4x4 sells just about any part you would need for the conversion plus the
conversion itself. Standard and Drivetrain reman trannys and they source
Advance for their conversion kit. All of these links will give you all the
info you need to do the job. It is possible that you could get this all
done under 2K if you can souce a reman NV4500 (make sure it has a
fully splined 5th gear shaft and upgraded 5th gear nut) and they will
accept your G360 as a core... I have seen NV4500's on Ebay for 1200 or
so... but, then there is shipping... the conversion kit from Advance runs
about 450 or so... so, it could be done for under 2K... . read all the links that
I sent you and research them... so that you will know exactly what is
ahead of you. All of the links will explain exactly what you will have to
do for the conversion... . my favorite would be Quad 4X4... good folks
to deal with and they do the conversions themselves and have every part
that you could ever imagine (no affiliation... just my experience during my
conversion)..... good luck and keep us posted on how this goes.
