I have an aquaintence who has a 97 Pstroke and I want to help him change the glow plugs, I have seen detailed instructions but can't find the web site. Thanks in advance. bg

Done a million of them... Just pop the valve covers off and remove all the wiring. Then you'll need to blow the pool of oil away from the hole the glow plug is screwed into. If you don't do this, oil will leak into the cylinder, and could result in a hydraulically locked engine. You'll need a 10mm semi-deep socket to remove & install the glow plugs. Have fun! :D

I could not believe my eyes.

About a month ago I looked under the hood of a 1999 4x4 p-stroke. I really did feel sorry for the guy's who have to work on them. All I could see was plastic.

Made me appreciate my old Dodge.

WHat about an E van

Now throw that 7. 3 in an E van and the fraise just pop the valve covers off is not so easy much bigger PITA

Illflem, the newer PSDs do have glow plugs and an intake heater. Duramaxes are the same way. The heater does not come on until after the engine is running though... Its purpose is to reduce white smoke after startup.

Worked on a few E-series vans too. *LOL* those are a ton of fun. Think glow plugs are tough? Try swapping injectors. There are not enough 4-letter words to describe that lovely experience! *LOL*

Bottom line: Glad I have a Cummins. :D

Well hidden

Thanks for the replies, I looked under the hood once and I could see the wires running under the valve covers, was afraid that was where they were. Thanks again, bg
