I have been looking for wheel to wheel step bars for my '04 2500 quad cab long bed. Westin says they don't make wheel to wheel for the long bed quad cab. I see that Go Rhino makes a wheel to wheel for the long bed QC. I am concerned about the 2 piece design. Anyone that has installed these how sturdy are they and where do the two pieces fit together? If anyone knows of a brand that will fit the LB quad cab please let me know. tnx

Go Rhino Wheel to Wheel Step Bars

I have these on my Quad Cab, short box, 4x4. I wouldn't say they're the best, but they are one of the best additions I've made to the truck. In terms of something that benefits you every time you use the truck, it's a wise accessory.

The top of my bed rail is 4'10"; I'm 6' tall. For climbing in and out of the bed or just retrieving gear, the step in front of the rear wheel is great!

I don't think I know what you mean by 2-piece design though? My bars are 1-piece with a couple of brackets and braces per side. I didn't think the mounting arrangement was very well engineered, but they've held up perfectly well for nearly 2 years now. My only real gripe is the plastic step pads don't all fit flush, so debris and a wayward sandal can get caught between the pad and the bar. This is more of a potential problem, really doesn't happen much.

Kompressor! I have them on 2500 swb best mod I have done but wax them

good before installing them. P/S They are one piece not two.

Some where I read that the bars were a modular design so they could be shipped ups and I guess is assumed they were two piece.

Boondocker, how do they mount? I had Westins on my old truck and they mounted by taking out the body mount bolts and replacing them with longer bolts and mounted in those locations.

I gather the step pads must stick out some past the bar. Do the bars stick out far enough for a good step?

I find the bars to be ideally located. They seem to fall naturally to foot and it's never ocurred to me that they should be anywhere else.

They do use the body/bed mount points, longer bolts and drop down brackets. My specific complaint about the brackets is that there are 2 pair, which are identical. For example, the brackets are clearly designed for the left side, the instructions only show the left side install. Then you get the right side and go, what the hell? So you turn 'em upside down and backwards until you figure out that they actually will work, they just don't match the other side. Offends my delicate sense of proportion, just as sturdy either way.

The plastic pads are on top of an indentation in the top of the bar to provide a flat step point, 3 per side. A couple of mine are a little warped and don't fit flush. They weren't perfect from the factory and the summer heat in Las Vegas doesn't help.

The UPS box is big and heavy :D

I've also got them on my '03 short bed QC. Very easy install and they don't budge when I get in. I'm 5'8" and they allow me to reach into the bed and toolbox. I'm sure on a long bed they'd be even better. I got mine from TruckPerformance.com. They're the Sumatra 6000 in black. Hope this helps.

I have seen the Go Rhino and WAAG wheel to wheel steps and they both are quality units. You would be pleased with either. Also the WAAG set has the kickouts for the dually's training wheels. Both are cab mounted sets and are very strong... Andy
