Zion National Park- anyone gone?

Cherry Valley Lakes by Banning California

For Zion we stayed at the Hitch-N-Post in Knab. Its was ok there with hook ups.

In a small town with some traffic noise but we were gone during the day so didn't really matter.

Un-hooking the RV there and traveled to Zion one day, North Rim GC another day and on a 3rd day went to Lake Powell.

Was nice to travel those places with the RV un-hooked and Knab was central to those places.

Mid October might be kinda late though, we just got back from there last week.

If you stay at Watchman. . which is what I had considered its better accessed by the south entrance.

The North entrance takes you down steep switch backs, canyon walls and a mile long tunnel that requires an escort.

Watchman is a nicer campground IMO than the one we stayed at, we just wanted a more central hub to what we had planed to do during the day.

I've decided on staying in Watchman while in Zion. I went through that mile long tunnel some 10 years ago with my 95 Dodge dually only and we did have an escort. I don't believe they'd let you take a large 5th wheel through there, would they?

If you like burgers, just outside the gate is "The Burger Shack"

We had the BBQ one and it was very good.

They should, big tour busses and other RV's were doing it, you gotta stay in the center and it costs 15 bucks extra so they can stop traffic on the other end.

Jeepit, your more than welcome to join us, but you better leave now because you have a long ways to drive from Wisconsin.

We are talking about doing this trip in the near future. Sure would have been nice to meet you out there but my wife does not have enough vacation built up to do this. .

I hear that. I have a simular problem with my wife. She has plenty of vacation time, she just doesn't time to take it. With the economic downturn her company laid off half the staff and now they have work huge workload, but not enough people to do it.

I have plenty of time because I'm retired. Whenever you come out this way, drop me a PM and I'll treat you to a New Mexico red chile burrito.

My sister still misses the fine Mexican food in NM. She lived in Farmington for a few years.
