Hey gonna build a boost tester to locate a possible boost leak in my truck. Gonna make it out of PVC and pressurize the system up to about 12psi with my compressor.

what is the size of the turbo intake?

I'm gonna make it so I can pressurize everything from the turbo intake all the way through the system to the intake horn in one shot to find the leak (its a loud whistle/whine that comes on from 10psi and up).

sound good to go???

IIRC the turbo intake is 5". I made mine from a PVC cap from Home Depot, a rubber boot from the same section (may have been a adapter or reducer), 1/4" ball valve and air tool QC fitting. You will want to put some sort of ridge on that PVC cap to help keep it from slipping under pressure, and make some sort of retention strap to keep it in place. Even 12psi will still launch your test cap with some force, and you will want to go 20 psi at least. The intake hose was not really made to hold pressure. I think I connected mine straight to the turbo inlet (been a while).

copy thanks, thats what I was thinking about doing.

You want to be really careful when you start testing as 20# of pressure can make a missle of the 5" plug if it blows out. bg
