both bought 20's , both less than 10k on the clock and both failed on the freeway within weeks of one another.

Don't waste any money on the lottery....

On a lighter note, Iima wait out the recall as long as I can but feel for those who've trucks have experienced this issue.. Remember good fuel, good maintenacned, should keep ya on the top side of this issue.

I’ve read on other venues that Stellantis had been reimbursing some owners that have replaced their CP4’s with aftermarket conversion pumps.
That may be worth investigating.
One can only wonder how long it will take Ram to get the affected pumps replaced; years? Not just the parts availability snafu, but the time and manpower(how many diesel tech’s does a dealer have - damned few). This seems to me to be a very time consuming/labor intensive process.

I can confirm that they are reimbursing if you replaced your pump with the S&S pump prior to the recall. I don’t know about anything submitted now after the recall has been issued.
I heard about the possibility of reimbursement on another forum and submitted a claim for a CP3 S&S conversion I installed myself in October. Rosa was my RamCares rep and responded quickly with what I needed which was an invoice and proof of payment along with a shop inspection. About a month later I received a check for the full amount of $2875.50 for pump tax and shipping.

I was just looking for the recall to check the status and it looks like they pushed it back to May. However they have been installing a few kits under TSB 18-054-21 that includes a new style CP3-3 pump and adapter. The kit with everything including the pump, drive gear, pump adapter, ECM bracket, and revised PS hose is only $1,100. It requires a flash to make sure everything works nicely together. Much cheaper than the S&S kit.

I wonder how the computer software update will affect the delete crowd? With the tuner boys out of business or deep underground, this could be a real conundrum for those with alternative tuning.

I think the deleted group are on their own. Dealers often won't/can't work on deleted vehicles due to Federal Regulations. I had an 09 Ram 4500 I ran deleted for 8 years pulling RV around the country. I restored full emissions just in case I had an issue while on the road, especially out of state.

Anyhoo, glad to see Ram doing the right thing.

It is a safety recall and applies to ALL legally registered, described VIN numbers. Deleted, etc. trucks will get the recall completed.
I don't believe there are any Federal regulations stating when/when not a dealer can work on a vehicle.

John, I guess we'll see. Tunes likely have to be removed to modify stock software, so there will be hard trouble codes set that may interfere with compleying the software updates.

It doesn't affect me either way, but dealerships tend to have issues working on vehicles with extreme mods.

Cheers, Ron

Mmmh, I think you could not register your car in any state if you would tell them that you tampered with the emissions system.
I sure read a lot of posts where owners have deleted. I don't think they are driving around unregistered. There are States or zip codes that do not require smogging. Even in strict Califunny, my trucks are registered in a no smog zip code. I could delete and be registered, however, I don't believe in deleting, but I am tuned.

By the way, I don't think there's a way to tell them that you tampered with the emission system.

Are you saying dealer, EPA, state inspection can't tell who actually deleted a vehicle registered to
someone and/or that either electronically or physically determine it was done? Just trying to follow your point.

BIL tried to license a 2008 RAM in Arizona. The vehicle inspector opened the hood to see EGR block off plates and dropped the hood and sent him packing!

That is a vehicle inspection not a registration. There are many venues where you walk in with a correctly filled out title transfer and the $$, you walk out with a license plate and registration. No smog test, no inspection, no hassle.

Not in Arizona, they required an inspection.
