That's just a skinned knee. :p Try and work a 6.5/6.2 IDI GM diesel on the grades around here. At least the 6.0 Ford, while trying to kick Olds diesels off the "Worst Diesel Ever Mountain", had some power to get out of it's own way before blowing up.

Some people are gluttons for punishment! I'm a fast learner and ditched the 6.7 Stroke long before the warranty was up!

A 6.0 Powerstroke can be made into a very nice engine without a lot of real effort. The 6.4 Powerstroke is the real turd in the punch bowl, and it takes a special kind of masochist to plan on fixing a 6.7 Powerstroke themselves at home. That said....A Cummins powered Ford is still the best truck but I digress.

How many actual CP4 failures have their been?

I don't know but I'm sooooooooooo scared that mine is going to grenade at any moment..........soooooo scared! I'm so leary that I'm going to get into my truck tomorrow and drive 800 miles round trip in Alaska during the coldest April on record.................I just know it's going to lay down on me!

Don,

Let's BOTH mark our calendars ten years from now for a stutus update on your CP4. Now if your's blows up in the meantime and leaves a big hole in your hood, we expect that report too.

Talk to ya in 10, Ron

My heart won't make it 10 more years with all this fear I have of the CP4......and to think, the wife's new Ecodiesel is equipped with the same demonic pump! Doubles my worry duty! :D

I just saw a newer RAM Hot Shot guy on the side of E Highway 60 in Gold Canyon, Az with his hood up. Not sure of year but in had the big RAM in the front grill. He had a farm type tractor on the trailer and signage on the truck doors. My thought has another CP4 failure!

Maybe he can hook on to the back of a big rig and ask for a reduced rate :D

I just did just under 600 miles round trip today picking up a trailer. Thats about my limit. I get all pie eyed and stoopid....especially when I am alone o_O

After reading all these posts on the CP4 I am regretting buying my 2019. But that is what the FCA wants, for those of us with 19s and 20s to get scared and buy a 21 or 22. No sweat off their backs and they rake in more money while we try to survive. Maybe a big 19/20 Ram Truck rally outside the US headquarters? Probably wouldn't do anything but would be fun. On another not, this is also why I got the extended warrantee, to cover the cost of the time bomb when it goes off. When the warrantee time is out get rid of the truck.

I like the idea of a drive-by on the headquarters but my 19 surely wouldn't make it!!!! As a matter of fact, I'm sooooo scared about this problem that I'm going to tow a large trailer from Alaska to Arkansas next winter.

Have fun on your trip from Alaska. I did it in my 99 2500 pulling a 34' 5th Wheel from WI to AK and back. 10K miles round trip. The only problem I had eas a bunch of Cotton Wood cotton collected in the front of the radiator without me noticing it and caused an over heating issue going up a 9% grade. After washing and thoroughly cleaning it out temps went back to normal. I sure miss that old 99. She was my baby and retirement gift to myself when I got out of the Navy

Cottonwood debris getting stuck to the backside of the radiator is heck on 24 valve engines because of the crankcase venting. I have friends that fight it every year.
