off road fuel???

Looks like the Ford camp is restless.

Now, Ken, you know . . . .

We are not talking about road maintenance here. We're talking about bureaucracy maintenance. Whatever it takes to finance the lifestyle to which "they" have become accustomed.

If "their" money goes away, they must go away. And for sure, they are NOT going away.

I got one better, im still thinking that purchasing a mule for travel to work would be a great idea, would i get hit with a horse tax, or a hoof per mile tax. . :-laf

Greetings from Amish and Mennonite country. The idea of taxing horse-and-buggy drivers isn't really as silly as it admittedly sounds at first. They shoe their horses with carbide-studded shoes... pretty much a necessity in order for a shod horse to get any serious traction on asphalt and concrete. Those carbide studs are almost as hard and sharp as diamonds, and really tear up the pavement. Strange but true.

I think Wyatt is taking too much heat for some valid points. Anymore, election choices are picking the lesser of two evils. We all want to end up voting for the party that wins and tend to weigh how good a job they are doing by how it effects our wallet rather than how well they defend the Constitution against all enemies foriegn and domestic. Next point, I don't know how it is in the east but on any given weekend in the west there are millions of gallons of gasoline being burnt in ATVs,OHVs,boats, small engines etc that have paid highway taxes and are not used on highways. This surely offsets the less than 1% that do run red. I also work for a city of approx 100k in population. All of the diesels that we run are running red. Dump trucks, street sweepers, vac trucks, and all of the diesel pickups. We live in an area with a very high growth rate and the local contractors frequently road their scrapers, water pulls, and loaders rather than putting them on a transport. This can't be good for the roads not to mention that thay have less than adequate braking tires etc should they need to stop quickly.

In Colorado anyway, government entities, such as Colorado Department of Transportation, State Patrol, County and City governments, fire districts, etc are permitted to use tax free fuel. I don't know about the rest of the world.

CTait I appreciate the post, im not taking any heat what so ever, as you can see from my posts it really doesn't bother me, as all pple have their god given right to an opinion as we all do, words will never harm a man but actions thats a little different.

The reason it doesn't bother me is im a man of truth, the truth does not bother me to say no matter how it comes out, im on a roll now :-laf .

Anyways as for Lightman you have your opinion on elected officials, but as the status quo goes pple vote because thats what their families have done each generation and so forth, as for them being scum yes that is how i feel and if you were to take a poll the majority of the pple would tell you the same thing, I have voted in the past neither for one party or the other, i voted for who i thought would do the best job, on a local ballot there seems to be a little better character of person running, but once you reach house and senate and up they suck, and I think its time for alot of change if you ask me, our so called elected officials have taken our Constitution, our Judicial system and every other form of Gov't and turned it into shambles.

Our Fore Fathers are doing flips in their graves as we speak, and i agree times have changed but not to the point to where the right foot doesn't know what the left one is doing. Plus only in America does a murderer or Rapist have more rights than a honest hard working family man or woman, Prove me wrong. Okay time to go tinker on the dodge :-laf

35% tint (to match rear slider stock tint) I like it and its borderline so I dont think Ill have any problems with getting pulled over but then again I usually run into bad luck... oh well.

the pic of the A-Pillar you can see the difference from clear and 35% Id like to go to 20% (darker) but Ill run this for awhile.

Ian
just an example, that cracked windshield is enough to get you pulled over and cited for faulty equipment (reads: probable cause) and anything they find from there is a legal search.

There have been a couple of discussions on this matter in National Dragster in the past. I'm sure it will get "worse" before it gets better. Worse comes to worse, seeing as how my truck is already considered a "commercial tractor" (03 Dually) and I have my DOT #, I guess I can always charge myself $1. 40 a mile to haul my own racecar!! :(

Yup... I've seen the guy several times up on the bridge with entire the platoon down the road pulling almost everyone over left and right. At least the traffic is light after that (if you make it through) :-laf

Drinker Street too? Any other spots on 84 or 81 (to Wilkes-Barre) that are regular spots? I know there's one on 84 East at the exit for the barriacks. Come around the corner and they are always waiting - they even paved a spot for them to sit just past the underpass...

Best thing I've found to avoid tickets = CB...

Henry David Thoreau believed in a philosophy of Civil Disobedience, when one believes something to be wrong he should fight to right the situation. What i believe to be happening is most likely the same situation he faced with the poll tax during the Mexican American War. He refused to pay the tax, so he went to jail, did that change his beliefs, no, did he pay the tax, no. So the main question i have is Why if there is no work being done to the roads, why should we pay the taxes to do so, i am with many of you in saying the roads are so poor in condition, that the 60 cents WV taxes you is overkill. It would seem to me that until the money went to the right places they shouldn't be getting any of it. OK my rant is done. Seems like many of the guys arguing against running red should read Thoreau's book on civil disobedience, and get over the whole, it is wrong because someone with more money than i have said so.

I'm opposed to tinting. I almost got nailed recently by a lady with dark tinted side windows. I could not tell she was not looking at me so I was not prepared that she was going to pull out in front of me. It is a serious safety issue. You need to be able to see the other drivers face.

Since the new A-pillars are so big why would anyone want to tint their windows dark enough to inhibit their vision that much more?

I'm not sure where you're from aseigworth, but JimScott's location gives his perspective away. It's not hot up there. I've spent most of my life living in Florida, and I can tell you that temps reach 180F+ inside the interior of cars parked out in the sun. Tinting the windows and using a foldable type sunshade on the windshield DRASTICALLY reduces these temps. My truck is black, and I can tell you I couldn't live without the tint.

Before I got my cummins, I was working as a sales rep, driving a Jetta TDI. Since I spent so much time on the road (again , in FL), I began to get a pretty bad sunburn on my left arm, from where it I'd rest it on the doorsill. I for one have seen people with skin cancer, and it's not a pretty thing. Factory glass, including the back 'tint' does NOT block UV's whatsoever. Most quality aftermarket tint blocks 98+% of UV's, which helps prevent drying and cracking of your seats and dash, not to mention skin cancer. Once I tinted the windows my arm never got sunburned again.

Tinting windows to the legal limit does not inhibit vision in either direction for those with normal 20/20 eyesight... it's just the guys out there with the super dark limo-tint or those with bad eyesight that have problems. I can see out of my windows on a dark rainy night just fine. Anyway these are just some of the reasons that a few of us 'want to inhibit our vision' by tinting our windows.

Now to make this totally off topic post cling on for dear life ;), I'll add that on past vehicles I've had tint that was legal in one state and illegal in another state that I lived in, and was NEVER hassled about it by police or any authorities. I know that police officers don't like it because they can't see who's in the car when they walk up, and in the few times I have been pulled over for speeding or something, I have always put all of the windows down and my hands in plain view as a courtesy.

I get a big kick out of statements Wyatt makes like 'the country is in shambles and that's a known FACT. " How can one make such ridiculous blanket statements with no qualification or support? In any case, it is certainly entertaining.

JimScott - you are definitely right that some tint makes it hard to see other driver's faces. Typically tint that falls within the various state laws does not block your vision in, just the illegal darker tint and limo tint. Regardless, I think that you should accept some responsiblity in your scenario as well. Don't bank your moves on whether or not you see someone's face, have a little more caution, and consider your possible routes in either case.
