Competition 1/4 mile times

I Won the oh my god class. :D Got thrown in with some crew cab fords and a duramax with cut tires. One of the fords had over $6000 worth of banks stuff on it and claimed it dynoed over 500hp. Sure didn't put out any smoke. He got beat by a completely stock ford with airbags. I ended up running 285/75/16 tires with about 25% tread left. These guys were running some serious meats. Probably why the underpowered ones were hopping so bad. The track was like packed sand. I pegged the tach from beginning to end after the turbos came up completely overpowering the tires and track. Beat the stock crew cab long bed ford running airbags by 20 feet and won. The announcer asked if anybody thought a dodge could beat the ford as I started my run. As the clutch locked and the 5x5 dd3 cloud of smoke belched out the crowds tune changed a little. I may have converted some of the non believers.

Way To Go!

Good job OO from MM;)

Where was the pull?

I think your narrow tires were an advantage on that hard track.

The pull was at the tri county fair in bishop. It's about 45 minutes south of mammoth.

I didn't see any name on the sled. It was paired up with a mini sled that looked almost exactly the same. Both were brown in color. One of the gassers broke a motor mount and tore the positive lead off the battery getting it going.

NOTHING beats seeing a little Toyota truck trying to get a sled going..... this was at the Chenago (sp?) county fair in upstate NY...

He didn't even budge the sled and his tires didn't even move!

The other Toyota had a Chevy small-block in it... and he couldn't even get it going... . and then his rear driveshaft twisted right off the x-fer case yoke. :-laf

Lots of guys went home disappointed with their "BADA$$" trucks that day... . especially the ones with loud exhausts... . the ones with the most bark bit the least out of all the trucks... .

Scott,

First, just for clarification, I don't have $6000 worth of Banks stuff because they don't even offer that much in mods for my truck. I do have a few more things than the powerpack but not much. Also I have never claimed to dyno 500hp and I think it would be hard to find any truck rolling 38's that could dyno 500hp. I'm probably in the 340/+700 range so who ever told you that was full of beans. Next time make sure you know what your talking about if your going to post it on the web. I wasn't at all surprised by your pull because word of you and your twins coming down the hill had preceeded you (great pull by the way).

Second, you have to admit you were a little worried when I pulled it out the back door on my first run... especially with all the advice you were seeking prior to the pull.

Third, you must admit I have the best looking truck you have ever out pulled... and I'm still the crowd favorite.

Now with all that said I have our whole class on video if you'd like a copy (you know where to find me). You should at least post your pull to your website.

Brandon

P. S. I've heard that someone here in Bishop is trying to secretly build up a Dodge for next year.

mojo,

A little motivation/exageration got you to spend the fee and sign up!! Welcome to the sight with that first post. Everyone is pretty fair around here... keep posting... CJ

thats great mojo, we need some more pull trucks out here, I have been fielding most of the trucks out here this summer

these fellas have made a sucessful summer pulling diesels in the valley

Thanks guys! Yeah I got a little motivated and joined but I can't complain because I've learned more about pulling on this site than any other. Simple fact is that I like powerful trucks and it seems like the Dodge guys really know how to crank it up!

Just posted what I heard word for word. I thought you were standing there when they said watch out for this guy he's got 500hp. Guess they were pulling my leg. Might have been clair but I can't remember. $6000 is easy to reach when you include the installation cost. I built the twins on my truck for fun. My horsepower would be the same with 1 turbo or 3 which it would have if there was enough room:D

I didn't get to see most of the runs I was at the back of the line. All I could see was the sled going down the track. The only thing I was nervous about was getting the sled moving since I don't have a slipper clutch.

Which truck was yours:D It's easy to be the crowd favorite when they are all ford fans:p

If you have the video's on dv or mini dv tape I can put them all up on the website pretty easy. If it's vhs that could be tricky. I don't have anyway to capture them on my computer.

P. S. If your not doing anything on the 12th and 13th there is a big diesel event in tulare. Truck pulls, dirt drag racing, and lots of vendors. There will be some hot fords there too.

I had actually left my truck once I weighed in so I didn't hear what any of the guys were saying about my truck. Clair knows that I've done some stuff and I could see him saying things like that... when all along he was hoping those cut tires would give his Duramax the advantage.

I know what you mean about the installation cost, but I only dropped $4k at Banks and the rest of the 'smaller' things I did myself. Seriously considering injectors and some other things now since you've got my competitive spirits up. :D

My first run I didn't even feel the sled... at about 200' it started to slow me down but the boost kicked up again and as you'll see in the video the back of the sled was past the 300' mark. On my second run I just didn't get on it quick enough... I think I was at 75' before I hit WOT. I seriously should have outpulled that truck from Bridgeport and given you a little more competition.

What kind of boost and power are you really running? I had so many people calling me right before the pulls telling me anywhere from 500hp to 800hp. When I run the stock chip I'm getting 25lbs and with the stage v I'm getting 32lbs.

You'd be surprised how many Dodge fans there really are in Bishop. Last year there must have been 6 PSD's unlike this year.

Its not the greatest video but its on mini dv so you should have no problem.

I'm there. Actually Banks was trying to come up with some custom stuff for my truck for Tulare but they can't now so we'll see how well I do. I love to pull but my trucks not ready to compete against the big boys. I'm just waiting for my transmission to take a !#@$.

I bet after your first run they changed gears on the sled. That thing felt like someone threw out the anchor at 130 feet or so.

I ran out of money at the 458hp mark. Been there for about 2 years now. Boost peaks at 45 then drops to 40. The new modified injection pump from diesel dynamics and maybe some super mentals are in the future somewhere right after o-ringing the head. I should probably pay off my truck first. Naaa:D

Hey there, OO. You know it's not about horsepower anyway, 'cause 100 Cummins HP is worth about 120 International HP. Them Cummins horses pull harder and run faster than International horses, for some reason :)

Glad to see you putting those twins to use. I wish I'd been able to ride in that truck when the streets weren't slick, but it was a heck of a ride anyway :)
