I pulled the trigger and got the 2013 2500. I have to say its very nice. So far with less then 300 miles its showing 16 + MPG combined . A 3+mpg jump from the Dually. Less weight etc I'm sure, plus 3:42 gears. Now i have to sit down and figure out the blue tooth etc etc stuff. .
Off to change my signature!
PS: Have 91 gal RDS aux tool box/fuel tank combo and "V" box for sale.
I also test drove the same truck as Aaron above today. Three things that stood out over my '12. . 1) better throttle response, 2) little to no delay out of the hole, 3) the exhaust brake works 3 times better. Really strong and I can hear it without downshifting on the paddle.
The interior was nice also. It was a Mega Laramie.
If ordering keep in mind that the 3500 and the 2500 2013 Are entirely different Trucks ,the Only common area is cab and interior, the Motor/Trans combo, Suspension, axles, driveline, Frame, brakes are 3500 exclusive.
Jmill, I feel the same power out of the hole and exhaust brake feels more aggressive then the 2012 . You can hear it like the old days (2005- 3500 Dodge CTD). So far I am very impressed and happy that I can park in spaces without walking a mile to stores etc.
The seats do feel better then the 2012 also. These are cloth as were the 2012 but for some reason have a better fit to them. There seems to be plenty of 2013's available, but it was not until a week ago my broker could get actual piece of paper from a dealer showing actual tow ratings etc.
Now if the oil light does not come on at 3K, I will really be HAPPY! I do have one issue with this truck that I'm not going to divulge yet. Its not mechanical. If it gets resolved correctly by RAM, I'll let you all know. .
I have two questions for you: Did the truck come with a full size spare tire? I was on the Ram site and trying to build a 2500HD and every time I picked the full size spare the site wanted to delete the full size bed.
Second question does the cap-less fuel fill port opening fit the truck island fuel nozzle? Since you seem to be the first maybe you can answer this.
Jimw, It does not look like it will fit the BIG diesel truck filler nozzles. Just double checked... I wonder who's bone head idea it was to have a non cap filler neck? Any old jack wagon can come along and put junk in your tank. I ordered the polished aluminum locking cover for it because of that.
Thanks guys for the compliments . So far very happy except with one issue I'll disclose later depending on what Dodge customer service has to say. Oh, and the hitch debacle. . I have to wonder why such a highly rated tow vehicle does not work with after market suppliers to get parts made for folks like me. .
I looked at a 13 today and it looks like the big nozzle will fit. The fuel door has a soft rubber gasket to keep dirt out of the fill hole. Not sure how you would lock it?
Cummins12V98, below the top opening/flap is another hole the nozzle has to enter... Its small. I was able to get a standard nozzle in today, first time fueling it... It did not feel like it had much wiggle room/. . Not enough for the big pump nozzles.
The 2 filler filler necks are very different and the Urea is very small, maybe 1". I'd guess that's why they also do the cap less fuel fill, makes it harder for people to mix the 2
My wifes Chrysler 300 has the capless filler and i hate the thing, need to find a cap that will fit in it's place, i live on a dirt/gravel road and dust is everywhere, so if it's not sealing tight, it can enter my fuel system, Monte
It would be a new Idiot to be able to get diesel in the urea hole... Unless you use a funnel. You'd have to be on acid to make that one work... I bought the 2012 locking filler door cover and of course they are not the same holes etc. . Gonna have to look at it real close and see if I can "jerry rig" it and keep the gasket in place that was mentioned earlier. removing the 2 screws does not let the cap be removed. . its in with the filler neck.
So far, with the exception of my pet peeve with Chrysler, I'm really liking this truck.
