gov. pressure soleniod

hello everyone i am planing on replacing the soleniod & transducer on my 05 48re trans. from what i'm reading the borg warner unit is the one,also is the transducer a borg warner unit? where is a good place too buy them and how much do they cost? thanks ---merv

I personally only use suncoast transmission for all parts auto related... . never a problem...

I purchased the solenoid from Suncoast for $140 and was told to buy the transducer local since it is just a stock item - $92 Napa.

They must have ran out of transducers... happened b4... Probably wouldnt trust napa though... obviuosly still working rite though...

The Borg Warner is not better than the OEM-it is cheaper in price and does not hold up as well. Many shops thought or hoped they were and have come back to buying oem again. I can't speak one way or the other for the kit that ATS sells that adapts chevy parts I have no experience with it

The OEM solenoid is made by BW, the supposed upgrade is made by BW, the GM style is made by BW. The BW supposed upgrade has not proven to be better, might as well buy the cheapest OE one you can find if thats what you want.

The GM style will remove an issue sof the solenoid being bad but will still not work right if the transducer is not right. The transducer is way over priced at $92, online delivered for $50 is the best deal. Suncoast transducers have proven to be better but maybe their source is drying up or getting too expensive.

Replace the solenoid and transducer in pairs. Even then, you get bad ones out of the box.

Just another thought on the transducer, BD Diesel Performance has a modification which supposedly prevents overpressure damage to the transducer.

Page 10 of their valve body installation instructions (productManual/1030423_-_Valve_Body_Installation.pdf)

pressure transducer switch (the black plastic
style switch) for the 2000-2007 model year
trucks, before it is installed on the valve

To prevent over pressure damage to the
transducer, it will need to have a . 040 orifice
cup plug installed as shown in the illustration.
The best method to insert the orifice cup plug
is to squeeze it in gently with a vice. (DO
NOT USE A HAMMER).
Once installed the orifice cup plug should be
flush.

I made a similar plug out of a set screw and drilled a . 040" orifice and installed it in the transducer.

I don't know if it helps or not, but the transducer works.
