Job Happiness and Union vs Non-Union

Can the Mariners go all the way ??!

Maybe I'm confused:confused:

Why do we spend millions of $$$$$ blowing up mud huts, and caves with high priced missles and bombs, then give the other side billions of $$$$ to rebuild them?

Isn't this why we train SEALs?

Find OSB, bust a cap in his sorry behind, and be home for dinner.

I voted poor

... because I thought the whole idea of our counter-aggression was to stamp out terrorism... meanwhile, there are still living people in Afganistan! I was hoping our forces would erradicate the entire region once and for all... then move on to the next trouble spot and repeat: every man, woman, child, dog, cat and amoeba burt to a crisp! Those folks dont like us, and will NEVER stop the terrorism and aggression until there are no more of them. Period. Deplomacy hasnt worked. And why the heck are the prisoners getting a tropical vacation?? 3 meals a day??? Thats better than they've ever had!!. . and far better than they deserve. OK, commense flaming... these are just opinions, you know.

Awful quiet in here ... ... what's up with that ... touchy subject? I think so ... ... really wish I could speak my mind on this ... . BCFAST ... on target ...

BCFAST, if we got rid of all of them who would live there? Don't think any westerners would be interested. The empty space would just create a vacuum for Chinese, Iranians and Pakistanis. I rather have Afghanis. I think it's pure BS when we gloat about sending $250M of aid there when we spend that much every two days on bombs. I also voted poor.

It was great when Mr. Bush put the world on notice regarding terrorism. But, now it seems we are walking a political tightrope again, nation building, $$$ etc. When he stated "You are either with us, or against us", well it seems to be all talk. I think we, as a country, will be playing games for many years to come. Ten years from now, we'll be saying "Why didn't we kill them all when we had the chance". Now we even have to justify, to everyone, our treatment of the criminals we brought back to Cuba, What is Uncle Sam going to do with them? Our gov't can not protect us from these animals, & it's not politically correct to try and protect ourselves (ie: Arab secret serviceman/ American Airlines incident) I'm sure it will take another event such as chem/bio/nuclear here in the US before they are really willing to end this scurge. Just look how we've treated Israel in their attempts to deal with those Palastinian terrorists !

JMHO, Just don't get me started !!!!!!!

War, conflict, dispute, military action, disagreement, peace keeping mission. Call it what you want. The White House calls it a war. Anyone with half a brain knows what the poll is refering to.

US war effort

It is important for the US to conduct business above board and show the world that we're better than those we're destroying.

I have no problem with lending assistance to those in Afghanistan who will behave themselves. Those people have nothing over there and most of them are like us, they just want to get on with life w/o living in fear. If we don't help those people then what have we accomplished? Hopefully, our assistance will prevent the rise of another regime hostile to the US and our interests. The odds may not be good, but we've got to try.

Like it or not, the "detainees" at Gitmo are in a spotlight and the world is watching. What kind of people do we want to show ourselves to be? We're in the process of demonstrating that we are no one to be messed with. The "unconquerable" Afghanistan countryside has be conquered in a matter of months by our technology.

We have demonstrated, and continue to demonstrate, that we can hit hard and hit ruthlessly. This is of paramount importance.

Even more important however is that we show the world that we are a just people.

(And BTW, the military tribunals are fine with me, in case there's any doubt. )

Not at all Ron,

However, our beef is with Osama Bin right?

So what is all this death and destruction we rain down on the nation of Afghanistan?

Something we should not lose sight of: Those fanatics who pulled off that atrocity on Sept. 11 were Saudi nationals. They were in the United States with the BLESSING of OUR Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Repeat for those of you that did not get that: OUR GOVERNMENT LET THESE PEOPLE IN.

In short, the US government, instead of performing it's primary responsibility of protecting the citizens of the US, aided and abetted in the destruction of the twin towers ( and don't forget the lack of asbestos in the construction ) by it's imprudent laxity in immigration. Now we suffer from increased police powers and further erosion of the pitiful amount of freedoms we had before 9/11, and the **** poor Afghanis get the crap blown out of them and invaded. There's more, but I'm tired of typing.

Never said our Gov. was perfect

(especially slick willie)

Terrorist pilot Mohammed Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The

Israelis captured, tried, and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo

agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to

release so-called "political prisoners. " However, the Israelis would

not release any with "blood on their hands. "

The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mr. Atta was freed and eventually "thanked the US" by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center.

This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified. It was censored in the US from all later reports.

Some of you seem to think we should never have gone to "war" in Afganistan. What do you think we should have done? Lob a few cruise missiles like Slick Willie and call it a day? Something had to be done and, IMHO, the war has gone pretty well so far.

Sure, OBL is probably still alive, but the ba$tard is on the run and feeling some heat.

I don't like nation building either but if we cut and run now, Afganistan will revert to the OBL sanctuary it used to be and we will be right back to where we were. We have to at least try to repair the damage caused in the last 20-30 years and move on to Iraq. I know, George Bush senior should have finished the job when he had the chance (I'll bet that in private he wishes he had).

One of the burdens of being the world's only superpower is that we have to take the lead in the fight against terrorism. No other country has the will or capability to do it. I'd rather spend $250 million on smart bombs than $25 billion cleaning up the next World Trade Center disaster --- and you can be sure if we do nothing there will be another terrorist attack. illflem, you disappoint me.

Didnt anyone else ever think that they let OBL go, just so that we could carry this further, to say Iraq, Somalia, Saudi,Libya, etc. etc. ?

I for one would like to see terrorism taken down, and this would be a way to justify a campaign in these areas.

If OBL was captured, these factions would be allowed to fluorish, and we dont want to do this in another 5, 10 or 20 years... . do we?

Just my . 02
