Grammar:
The difference between knowing your s***
and knowing you're s***!

I try and hammer into my sons that it really is important. Texting and Facebook have really done a number on what kids think is acceptable.

I learned grammar, spelling, and punctuation in grade school at the hands of the nuns with their 18" steel-edged rulers. It was an early form of "spell check".

The early personalized license plates started the symbol word spelling phrase craze way before texting and facebook. They just took an existing silliness and ran with it, some of it is kinda cute tho:)

I didn't have nuns with rulers BUT I had Mrs. Gunther with an attitude..... :D

She did teach me, God rest her soul.

Mike. :)

Then you don't know the definition of "threatening and intimidating" then:{

I had one in summer school that terrorized me and one that would love it all better, I will never forget either one.

I told my Dad I didn't want to go anymore, I never felt so alone in my whole life as that summer. I was spoiled so he said ok, the girls had to go several summers :-laf

Nick

Was he helping Jack off his horse? Or helping jack off his horse?

Engrish, Engles... Oops!! I really meant to say English!

I had a former major league baseball pitcher for an English teacher in High School... Ken Hunt (pitcher) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ken Hunt Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com

Their are different kinds of problems with grammar today. To often, way two often, people use the wrong spelling of the word there thinking of. Are education system is failing. They're seems to be a failure too teach basic grammar. Maybe it's the inability for kids to learn these days. If I were teaching them, I'd always be yelling "your an idiot!". I mean-"you're an idiot!". :-laf

Hopefully, everyone knows that I deliberately made as mistakes as I could above.

Humm, if you are going to teach grammar, get it right, I see 3 mistakes:D and I hated spelling bee's, I was always the first one out:-laf

I have a tough time with punctuation and knowing when to use the numbers or when to spell them out. The english language is very difficult. I use spell check but that won't fix my grammar errors:{

Proper spelling, the ability to put together a coherent sentence, correct grammar - these are not only fading rapidly, but apparently despised by most people.

Ever try to correct someone's grammar, particularly online? You get someone who is so utterly incapable of putting a sentence together that you can't really decipher what they're asking, and the moment you point out the person might like to correct his writing and the whole online world accuses you of being some kind of elitist snob.

Murdering the Queen's English has become "cool". Just like being "bad at math. " Therefore, anyone who cares about matters of form is a pariah.

A few more generations along and they will all simply be grunting and drawing symbols in the dirt with a stick... ... ... ... ... . ;)

This is the unintended consequence of "No Child Left Behind" and the billions spent on the DOE.
